Purcell Heliskiing Terrain

The size of the heli skiing tenure is about average for a Canada heliskiing outfit – which is enormous!! With more than 2,000 square kilometres of terrain, there are fresh tracks galore and lots of terrain variety. The type of terrain tackled will be dependent on the weather, avalanche stability and group ability, but the guides can pick from wide-open glaciers, large alpine bowls, the sub-alpine where the trees are very widely spaced, cut-blocks, and tree skiing.

The difficulty of the slopes is akin to blue (intermediate) and black (advanced) runs at a ski resort, with more challenging terrain available subject to avalanche conditions and guest ability.

The vertical drop of the runs is about 750 metres on average, so starting with 5 runs you’d get about 3,750 metres (12,500 feet) of vertical.
