Best Places to Stay in La Rosière

The village at La Rosiere is a purpose-built alpine town at a high altitude of around 1,850m. The village is situated just at the edge of the local tree line, providing some sheltered skiing near & below the village, and treeless alpine above it. In appearance, the village is more reminiscent of a North American resort, which when compared to several nearby French ski resort villages is not such a bad thing! It retains some typical French Alps traits though, like a predominance of self-contained apartments and a fresh food market with stalls selling local cheeses and other delights on certain days of the week! It is a village in essential two parts, based on proximity to the main chairlift bases, which effectively 'bookend' the village. With views across the valley to Les Arcs & beyond, the village soaks up the winter sun in the best possible way.

The whole village is well served with supermarkets, bars, restaurants, general retail shops, ski rental & repair, plus entertainment (i.e. a bowling alley!) throughout. A free ski bus service connects the whole village together from one end to the other.

Some well-located 'ski in' hotels & serviced apartments are in La Rosiere near the main Roches Noires express chairlift. At the opposite end of the village is the Les Eucherts sector, with modern ski-in ski-out hotels & apartment complexes directly adjacent to the slopes, providing an incredibly family friendly village environment. Throughout both of the villages are numerous privately owned apartments & chalets available for holiday rental.

Worth knowing when looking at accommodation at La Rosière is that many (but not all) of the apartment ‘Residences’ only accept 7-night bookings from Saturday to Saturday. Hotels and other apartments are more flexible.

If booking last minute and cannot find anything on the hill, there are a few wonderful, affordable options down in the valley at Séez, Bourg St Maurice & Viclaire.

La Rosiere Village Ski-in Ski-out Hotels & Apartments

In the main village, one of the best ski-in, ski-out lodgings is the traditional Relais du Petit Saint Bernard Hotel. Nearby, for groups of up to 10 guests, the highly rated Residence Le Roc Noir Apartments are ski-in (or close to it!) and next to everything you would need for a long stay at the resort. Other hotel & apartment complexes line the main road down the hill.

At Les Eucherts newer, tastefully designed, ski-in ski-out hotels & apartment complexes line the slopes above the Eucherts chairlift. Once the quieter part of the resort village it may not be anymore! If you have the budget and want absolute top-class facilities & convenience, try the following. One of the best hotels in the resort is the Hotel Alparena & Spa. Also check out the superb, and more family friendly, ILY Hotels La Rosière. For self-contained apartments suitable for families & larger groups, check out the Résidence Les Balcons de La Rosière Apartments.

Other La Rosière Village Accommodations

In the village, close to the shops, restaurants, slopes & ski lifts, but not quite ski-in ski-out are these great apartment options: the new Lodge des Glaciers Apartments, and Residence Le Tyrol Apartments.

Located directly opposite the Les Eucherts chairlift, and steps away from the shops, bars & restaurants, Residence Miravidi La Rosiere Apartments is definitely worth considering, or slightly further away, the fabulous Hotel Alpen Lodge.

Alternative Accommodation Close to the Resort

Whilst staying in La Rosière itself should be the goal of anyone skiing the resort, if for whatever reason you are unable to, day-tripping (either by driving your rental car or skiing across from La Thuile) can still be a good way to ski here.

On the Italian side, La Thuile is a real town that provides well-priced lodging close the excellent north-facing advanced pistes that stream down from Les Suches.

With a rental car, accommodation can be sought anywhere in the valley below the resort. You can even use the lodging as a base for a ski safari in the region. The closest options are in Séez, Bourg St Maurice & Viclaire, however looking a little further away can also reap rewards.

Above the town of Séez on the road to the resort are two great last-minute options for anyone with a rental car: the Hotel Relais Des Villards and slightly further up the beautiful La Ferme d'Angele Guesthouse.

Our rock-solid guarantee, cheapest and best accommodation in the Haute Tarentaise includes: , the Le Perce Neige d'Alicia Guesthouse & Bar in Viclaire, close to La Rosiere, toward Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise; the Auberge de Jeunesse HI Séez hostel close to Bourg St Maurice & La Rosiere; and the Le Dôme Hotel & Restaurant, a little further away in Les Boisses (Tignes 1800). All three are 30min drive of La Rosiere.

Lodging options in the broader area are nearly limitless. On the French side below La Rosiere, aside from the valley villages, the ski resorts of Sainte Foy, Les Arcs & La Plagne will fulfil your needs.

As a last resort, staying in Bourg St Maurice is possible, and there are some fine new hotels & apartments to try, including the adventurously named Refuges en Ville holiday homes, plus Hotel Base Camp Lodge, where the amazing dormitory rooms have to be seen to be believed.
