Hotel Antumalal

Hotel Antumalal

The Bauhaus-style Hotel Antumalal was built in 1950 by a Czech couple. Perched up above the shores of Lago Villarrica, the hotel is architecturally dramatic and showcases wondrous views from the hotel rooms, the restaurant, lounge, and the terrace.

This boutique hotel exudes sophistication whilst maintaining a low-key relaxing ambience. The unique combination of beauty and privacy has attracted various dignitaries in the past including Neil Armstrong, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and the retro chicness of the hotel continues to attract discerning guests today.

Where is the Hotel Antumalal?

The Hotel Antumalal is located 2km southwest of the town of Pucon on Camino A Villarrica (just 1.4 km from the roundabout on the way out of town). Volcan Villarrica and the Pucon Ski Resort are 12km to the south, a drive that takes about 20 minutes.

Pucon is located in the Araucania Region of Chile, 105km southeast of Temuco and 780km south of Santiago. The hotel can assist with organizing bilingual transfers from Temuco Airport and other destinations.

Facilities & Services

The main lounge area has glass walls overlooking the lake, and is the perfect spot to relax in front of the huge fireplace.

The architecture of the swimming pool oozes classic luxury. The pool has an indoor and outdoor section, there’s also a hot tub, and nice lounges to recline on. Spa Antumaco was added in 2011, offering a range of massages and therapeutic treatments. For the ultimate in relaxation, there is also a sauna and a massage sensation shower.

Hotel Antumalal has beautiful gardens to wander around, and the hotel can arrange a variety of activities around the Pucon area. Most of the staff speak English.

Restaurant and Bar

The cosy bar with leather chairs and a nice fireplace is a great spot to sip on a pisco sour, or you may prefer to have a drink in the lounge or out on the terrace to fully absorb the vistas as the sun sets over the lake.

The Parque Antumalal restaurant also has amazing windows that look across the lake, so breakfast may be a slow affair! The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

A Glamorous Step Back in Time

22/09/2013
We couldn’t help but continuously say “wow” as we wandered around the hotel. It felt like we were on the movie set of a glamorous James Bond movie. Everything about the place is just stunning and the views from our room and the common areas of the hotel were spectacular. On fine days, you’ll never grow tired of looking across the lake. Even the views from the sauna were amazing and the pool is from another world.

Even though the hotel is a step back in time, it’s not dated and has been lovingly maintained. Even the extensive gardens are beautifully kept.

Aside from just the aesthetics, the restaurant is lovely with attentive service and beautiful meals.

After staying in a few large 5 star hotels around Chile, it was a breath of fresh air to stay in a boutique hotel that was intimate and romantic.

The hotel provides great value for money and we can highly recommend a stay at this unique hotel.
