The Stateline casinos form a massive part of the things to do in South Lake Tahoe. Apart from the food, bars and gambling, the casinos also have live music, shows and other entertainment. But if the kerching gets too much or if casinos are not your thing, there’s plenty of other South Lake Tahoe activities that will keep you amused. The area around South Lake Tahoe is one big outdoor playground.
Heavenly’s Adventure Peak
Adventure Peak at the top of the Heavenly gondola is very popular with families, considering the fantastic lift accessed tubing lanes on offer as well as a mountain coaster.
Backcountry & Cross Country Skiing
The area has lots of backcountry skiing opportunities including Taylor Creek, Echo Summit, and Echo Lake. Contact the U.S. Forest Service for maps, trail guides and the latest information regarding safety and snow conditions.
The Lake Tahoe area has an abundance of cross country skiing opportunities. The north end of the lake offers more prospects, but the south end also has Nordic skiing trails. Options in the South Lake Tahoe area include Spooner Lake, Hope Valley, Camp Richardson Resort and Kirkwood Cross Country.

A cinema and ice skating rink are located at the Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe. The rink is open from noon and into the evening, and skates are available for rent.
