Silverton Powdercats - Day Cat Skiing Packages
In close proximity to other ski areas and really close to Silverton Mountain
, Silverton Powdercats provides the opportunity to combine some lift accessed skiing with cat skiing. You can mix and match the skiing depending upon your budget, although with super cheap Silverton hotels
, your holiday can have more of a bias towards cat skiing.
If you are an individual or small group you can join a "mixed group" or if you are a large group a "private snowcat" might be just the ticket for you! Your ability should be a minimum of strong-intermediate to join a mixed-group.
Silverton Powdercats operate 2 snowcats
with capacity of 10 guests per snowcat.
Costs are USD$400
per per person or USD$3,750
/day per snowcat.
A standard day is about 10 - 14 runs depending on the speed of the group and the snow conditions. Lunch is provided on the mountain and you with be provided with avalanche safety gear.
Located in the San Juans, the terrain includes chutes, steeps, glades, trees and open bowls, much of which is above tree-line and reaching up to 12,500 feet in elevation.
The Daily Schedule
The day starts at 9:00 am with guest check-in. At this time guests will fill out paper work, settle any balances due and go through the safety orientation. The goal is to leave our parking lot at 9:30 am with a short ride to your first run; no chairlift, to shuttle van to hour-long snowcat ride. Silverton Powdercats get you to the goods ASAP! From there Silverton Powdercats will tour their terrain searching out the best snow, averaging 9-14 runs per day depending on the group’s desires.
You will end your day by skiing your last run all the way back to the Silverton Powdercats base of operation, no long cat ride home required, an attribute not many operations can tout! They try to end the day returning to home base between 3:30 and 4:00.
A full lunch is provided (please let Silverton Powdercats know of any special diet needs) and served cat-side to keep you fueled for a full day of skiing and riding. Please bring some water for personal consumption.

Silverton Powdercats Terms & Conditions
Refund & Cancellation Policy
You may cancel or change your reservation within 30 days of your trip. Cancellations prior to 30 days are subject to a 10% administration fee. We require payment in full at the time of your booking.
All reservations are transferable (i.e., you can re-sell or give your spot to someone else). If you can’t make it and find someone to take your spot, great! Please let us know 24 hours before your trip if someone else will be taking your spot. You are responsible for reimbursement from the person taking your place, we will not issue you a refund.
Please make sure that you understand our Minimum Guest Policy (below) before placing your order. We put this in multiple spots throughout the booking process, so please don’t call and say you did not see it. Failure to read our policies before booking is not our fault. We recommend purchasing trip insurance
for your trip through any number of reputable insurance agencies.
Double check the email confirmation to make sure that all of your contact and reservation information is correct. Please read thru all of the information below the reservation portion of the email as well as fully read thru our FAQ and Minimum Guest Policy before making your reservation. We cannot stress this enough.
Thank you for understanding.
We are at the mercy of Mother Nature and CDOT, and occasionally Red Mountain (North of Silverton) and/or Molas & Coal Bank passes (South of Silverton) close due to avalanche conditions and block access to our location. Red Mountain is usually the first pass to close, so if you’re coming from Telluride or somewhere North, we recommend staying in Silverton the night before your trip if there has been significant snowfall the week prior.
If Red Mountain is closed, but Molas & Coal Bank are open, YOU ARE STILL EXPECTED TO BE THERE AT 9AM! Driving from Telluride to us thru Durango takes approx. 3 hours in good conditions.
If both Red Mountain and Molas Passes are closed, we won’t be running cats that day and will issue you a refund or rebook your trip at no cost.
Minimum Skier / Rider Policy
We require a minimum of 5 people per cat to run a trip. We burn a lot of fuel running cats up and down the mountain, so we require at least 5 people per cat to make it worth the fuel costs.
If there are less than 5 people signed up on that day, we do not run a trip. If we do not meet our trip minimum on the day you have signed up, you can either reschedule or we will issue you a refund.
