Accommodation for those skiing and snowboarding at Taos Ski Valley is plentiful. Both the village at Taos Ski Valley (TSV) and the town of Taos have a variety of accommodation options.

Taos Ski Valley Lodging

The village of Taos Ski Valley has various accommodation complexes within the charming village. Taos Ski Valley lodging at the base of the ski area includes various hotels, lodges and condos, most of which are conveniently ski-in ski-out. The small European-style village has a quiet nightlife and is popular with families and those who want easy access to the slopes.

The Blake is a luxury slopeside hotel with beautifully appointed hotel rooms and self-contained suites, and amenities such as ski valet, day spa, outdoor swimming pool and hot tubs.

Other luxurious accommodation can be found at the Bavarian Lodge which features old world hospitality and Bavarian antiques. Accommodations are in the Bavarian Chalet, lovely 3 bedroom chalets that are fully self-contained and sleep up to 6 guests. The Bavarian Lodge is not located in the Taos Ski Valley village, but at a base area further along the road at lift #4. It is conveniently ski-in ski-out, but this probably isn’t a handy location for novice skiers or those wanting to access kids ski school.

Nearby Hotels

A couple of miles down the road from the base of the Taos ski area are several accommodations that are significantly cheaper than those that are ski-in ski-out at the base area. Examples include Austing Haus, a bed and breakfast with standard rooms for 2 persons.

Downtown Taos Accommodations

There are a wider range of Taos accommodations in town and these generally provide better value for money. Other pros of the town are the interesting culture and the variety of restaurants, bars, shops and galleries. Taos accommodations include lavish hotels, motels, and B&Bs.

Taos is a former Spanish settlement with a significant Native American culture, so many of the buildings have adobe architecture. Apart from the restaurants, shops and galleries, another advantage of staying in town is a better night’s sleep. Insomnia is one of the first symptoms of altitude sickness, and if you’re usually a sea level dweller, you’ll enjoy staying in town and not having to count sheep.

The Historic Taos Inn is right in the middle of town and is an institution of Taos. The hotel has one of the best restaurants in town and a fantastically vibrant bar, and the rooms are charming, many with adobe fireplaces and Indian furnishings. See our review of the Historic Taos Inn for more information.

Arroyo Seco, a cute little old village, is located 10 miles from the ski area on the road to Taos town. The village has a few restaurants, bars, shops and galleries, and various accommodations. The shuttle bus between Taos and Taos Ski Valley stops at the Arroyo Seco Community Center.
