Facilities & Services

Silver Star Facilities

The Silver Star Mountain Resort village is an array of colours which looks very dramatic against the white snow. The “cute” village isn’t very large, and there are only a handful of restaurants, a couple of pubs, a few shops and a very small grocery store, but the ski resort facilities and services are perfectly adequate for a ski holiday.

Facilities for Children

Silver Star doesn’t win family resort awards for nothing! The Star Kids Daycare centre in the Adventure Centre in the central village offers daycare for 18 month to 5 year olds, with indoor and outdoor activities. Child care can be provided for the morning, afternoon or full day, and kids 3-5 can have Daycare Plus which includes a 1 hour private ski lesson. Prices for the child care are about average for a Canadian ski resort. Book early as spaces are limited.

If you want to go out on “the town” in the evening, guest services at Silver Star can provide a list of recommended baby sitters.

The award winning mountain school instructors also provide high quality ski or snowboard lessons for the little folk. Kids ski school includes group ski lessons for ages 4-12 and snowboarding lessons for ages 7-12. The ski school also offers before and after lesson clubs if you think you want to be an early bird (or late bird!).

There’s a focus on family with lots of activities for the children and organised events such as fireworks, movie nights, family bingo and carnival nights. It’s easy to see why the Powderhounds have given Silver Star Ski Resort a Best Skiing in Canada award for its family friendliness.

Silver Star Ski School and Snowboard Lessons

A variety of ski and snowboard lesson packages are offered by the mountain school including group lessons, beginner programs, private lessons, and telemark lessons.

The group lessons for adults are for two hours in the morning or afternoon, or full day (5 hours), and can cater for beginners to experts.

Silver Star Ski Rentals and Snowboard Hire

The Village Rental Shop has ski or snowboard rental equipment for beginners to experts. This is a great place to demo some new skis, as they stock all the latest gear, and they’re happy for you to swap over equipment as many times as you like.

The Double Diamond service shop is located on the lower level of the Town Hall and provides equipment repairs and tuning.

Eating On Mountain

Silver Star Ski Resort doesn’t have lots of on-mountain eateries, but it’s not necessary considering that the village is easily accessible and ski-in ski-out.

Paradise Camp is located on the back side of the mountain in the Putnam Creek area. This once rustic lodge has been glammed up, but it still retains its charming atmosphere. They have a range of meals and beverages, with a favourite being the chili bun bowls for some classic Canadian ski resort fare. The aroma of the cinnamon buns is also enough to lure you in.

The Lookout Café up at the summit is good for views, coffee and a simple snack.

In the central village there are a variety of convenient choices for lunch or a quick bite. The Bugaboos Bakery Café has a delightful range of yummy baked goods with naughties such as pizza rolls, sausage rolls, croissants, and soups. The prices are very reasonable.

The Out of Bounds Coffee Co is a good spot to stop for a coffee or crepes, breakfast poutine, pastries and sandwiches.

Lots of people have lunch at the Townhall Eatery, a large self-service cafeteria at the start of the village main street that’s very family friendly.

See the Silver Star restaurants page for more information on places to eat.
