Mt Dobson Facilities & Services

The Mt Dobson ski area facilities are reasonably simple, but more than adequate for most families and others that visit. At Mt Dobson there is a very basic canteen, ski and snowboard lessons, and ski and board rental that are housed within shipping containers! The town of Fairlie also has some facilities for skiers and boarders.

Eating On Mountain

The little canteen sells very simple fare such as pies, soup, coffee, cold beverages and snacks. If it’s a cold day you can huddle inside in the very small day lodge. Alternatively sit outside at the picnic tables. Brown baggers are very welcome, as are those with chully-bins!

Mt Dobson Ski School

Mt Dobson has a small ski and snowboard school with four to five ski and snowboard instructors. They provide very inexpensive group lessons and private lessons. They also offer Easy Packs which are beginners’ packages that offer good value for money. The packages include a lift pass, ski or snowboard hire and a group lesson.

Ski and Snowboard Rental

On-mountain there is a range of ski and snowboard equipment for hire. Ski rental is very reasonably priced, but snowboard hire is somewhat expensive relative to the rest of their prices. The rental shop also has a limited range of clothing for hire.

It’s also possible to hire ski and snowboard gear in Fairlie at The Ski Shack. This is also a good place for equipment repairs or a wax, and the shop also rents out chains for the car.

Other Facilities

Mt Dobson has some self-composting toilet facilities at the base area.

The canteen sells Mt Dobson hoodies and a few other souvenirs.
