Powder South Heliski Guides

Heli skiing in Chile with Powder South Heli Ski Guides is fabulous; a completely inimitable powder skiing and snowboard experience. With high altitude, the quality of the virgin powder is amazing and the runs are delightfully thigh-burningly long. Another major highlight is the awe-inspiring backdrop of the Andes, which each run surrounded by breathtaking 6,700 metre (22,000-foot) peaks. Then there are the luxury mountain lodges and gourmet cuisine, and an opportunity to soak up some Chilean hospitality.

Powder South Chile heli skiing is a delightfully exclusive experience, ideal for those that are rightfully complete powder snobs and powder-holics.

Skier & Boarder Ability

Most people think you have to be an expert skier or boarder to heliski and whilst this might be the case with some heli skiing operations, Powder South offers terrain to match every skier and snowboarder’s ability and standards.

With endless terrain options available, Powder South guides can find safe runs for those who want to challenge themselves and improve their skills as well as those who want a mellow, fun, and exclusive powder skiing experience in the backcountry.

More Reasons to Heli Ski with Powder South

Powder South Heli Ski Guides are some of the most respected heliski guides in the world. Their guides are UIAGM / IFMGA internationally certified mountain guides and have decades of experience in the heli-ski industry worldwide, having led trips in Alaska, Greenland, Turkey, India, Canada, Russia, throughout the Alps, Sweden, Japan and South America.

Powder South Heli Ski Packages

There are several multi-day packages on offer in Chile starting from 3 days up to a week in duration, for full private groups and semi-private groups of 4 or 8 guests. All packages have a 1:4 guide to guest ratio, and include lodging, meals and transport from Santiago.

Where is Powder South Heliski Guides Located?

The Powder South Chile lodges (Altiplanico and El Ingenio) are based in the Maipo Valley, one of the key Chilean wine regions, not far from Santiago in Chile. The Santiago Benitez International Airport is easily accessible with lots of flight options from United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Powder South has access to thousands of hectares of unlimited terrain in the Chilean Central Andes, primarily between latitudes 32 degrees and 35 degrees South. The terrain includes the Aconcagua, Juncal, and Rio Colorado Valleys to the North; the Olivares, Parraguirre, and Tupungato Valleys located centrally, and the Aparejo, Marmolejo, Pangal, Rengo to Tinguiririca Valleys to the South.

Powder South Chile Terrain & Snow

The Central Andes are an amazingly vast mountain range offering a wide variety of perfect heli skiing terrain, from glaciated Andean peaks to steep ridges and gullies, with elevations ranging from 2,500 meters (8,250 feet) to 4,500 meters (14,850 feet).

The area also has the benefit of a maritime snowpack, which is light and dry due to the high altitude, synonymous with blower powder at its best. Snow accumulation comes from the Pacific Ocean, a mere 100 miles (160 km) west of the Andes.

Flying conditions are best during winter due to an almost zero thermal reduction, which keeps the cumulus clouds away and leads to an abundance of bluebird days.
