Telluride Lodging

Telluride accommodations are plentiful and include many upscale hotels, rustic lodges, condos and plenty of Telluride vacation rentals. Telluride has lots of fabulously convenient ski-in ski-out accommodation and the emphasis is mainly on luxurious lodgings, but there are also a few moderately priced accommodations for the more budget oriented.

The first decision regarding Telluride lodging is whether you want to stay in the old western town of Telluride or the more contemporary Telluride Mountain Village. Either location is pretty handy, as the town and village are connected via the slopes and a free gondola ride that only takes 13 minutes.

Telluride Mountain Village Lodging

The Telluride Mountain Village at an elevation of 9,545 feet (2,909 metres) is a smart looking ski resort village that has been purpose built with well planned pedestrian walkways. The Mountain Village has several dining options but the nightlife is somewhat understated compared with town, so the village is often preferred by families or others for whom nightlife is less of a priority compared with the convenience of access to the slopes and kids’ ski school. The properties are all reasonably new, most are incredibly luxurious, and many accommodations are ski-in ski-out. The accommodation options include lots of condos as well as various lavish hotels where the luxury of a ski valet is the norm.

The 4-star Hotel Madeline Telluride is the jewel in the crown of Telluride hotels. It’s superbly located in the center of the village and has ski-in ski-out access as well as very easy access to kids’ facilities such as ski school and child care. This hotel has extensive facilities and services and is a delightful place to stay.

Another stand-out is the 5-star lumiere Telluride, a boutique hotel with studios, 1-3 bedroom condos, and 4 bedroom penthouse suites. With luxurious furnishings throughout and attentive service, this hotel is the place to stay if you want to spoil yourself.

Telluride Hotels - Downtown

The town of Telluride is at an elevation of 8,750 feet (2,668 metres). Telluride has lots of historic charm with old Victorian buildings that represent the town’s colourful past. Staying in town has the advantage of a wider range of restaurants, nightlife options, galleries and unique shops. It also feels somewhat “unresortifed” as many of the locals live here.

The town is ski-in for intermediate riders and above, and “ski-out” via the gondola and two chair lifts. Only a small number of lodgings have ski-in access, but the town is reasonably small so most accommodations are within easy walking distance of the lifts.

The best located accommodation in town is the Camel’s Garden Hotel and Condominiums. This elegant contemporary property is conveniently ski-in ski-out and has over-sized rooms and marble bathrooms with ginormous baths.

The Victorian Inn is only 0.1 mile walk to the gondola and the main street is only 350 yards away. The 3 star Victorian Inn is a delightful historic building with a range of hotel room types and reasonable rates.
