It is pretty hard to fault The Heritage Hotel in Queenstown.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite on the lakeside. When you first walk into the rooms they have the wow factor. From our balcony we had spectacular views looking across Lake Wakatipu to the mountains in the background including The Remarkables. You could easily lie in the comfortable king sized beds for hours just absorbing the views through the large double doors to the balcony. Attention to detail is apparent through the cleanliness of the rooms and the resort. There was also a kitchenette which we didn’t use as there are just too many eat-out opportunities.

If you can find the time amongst skiing, indulging in Queenstown’s superb restaurants and bars, taking in a couple of activities / tours and sleeping in the big comfy king size bed, the hotel has an array of facilities such as indoor / outdoor heated swimming pool, spa, sauna and gym. If you want to go all out, try the day spa!

The hotel also has its own restaurant and bar. We indulged in both and were impressed with the ambience, service and relatively inexpensive menu. If you could find any fault at all, it would be that the hotel is located about 15-20 mins walk from town. This however wasn’t an issue for us (and in fact a reason why we would stay there again), we enjoyed the times we walked along the lakefront to and from the town (a great way to walk of some of those big meals before climbing into bed). The hotel also has an on-demand shuttle service so this is barely an inconvenience at all. And yet another benefit was the tranquillity of the location being away from the busy little metropolis.

With all of this in mind, you are probably thinking this is going to require a second mortgage on the house. This is however not the case; the nightly rates at the Heritage don’t really reflect the quality of this offering and therefore the value is exceptional.
