Incline Village NV is an incredibly picturesque spot to use as a base for a Tahoe ski vacation. The town is nestled in amongst the mountains and along the northeast shore of Lake Tahoe, which features various lovely beaches.
Incline Village Nevada is a fabulous community of contradictions. Lakeshore Boulevard is a playground for the mega wealthy, with an abundance of multi-million dollar mansions that overlook Lake Tahoe. Even the dogs with their bling bling collars on look very well-to-do. Meanwhile the local ski hill,
Diamond Peak, is incredibly family friendly, inexpensive and relaxed, and the shops and eateries in town are very unassuming.
Another drawcard for Incline Village NV, especially those who like to gamble, is the Incline Village casino. The Grand Lodge Casino is located at the Hyatt Regency Resort and is decidedly classier and less smoky than most of the Reno casinos.
Incline Village Ski Resorts
Diamond Peak is the Incline Village ski resort, and the town also provides easy access to various other Lake Tahoe ski areas.
Diamond Peak is located within the town limits of Incline Village, 2.3 miles from the “centre” of town. Diamond Peak is a small ski resort that’s particularly great for families and beginners. There are regular shuttle buses between the Hyatt Hotel and the Diamond Peak Ski Resort.
Incline Village is also a major base for
Mt Rose Ski Tahoe, a day ski area which is 11 miles to the northeast (15 min drive). Mt Rose is a medium sized resort with terrain for all ability levels.
Northstar in California is 12 miles to the northwest (20 mins) and is a glitzy destination resort with all the bells and whistles. It is possible to use the TART (Tahoe Area Regional Transit) buses to get to Northstar (2 buses required).
Other Incline Village ski resorts within easy driving distance:
- Heavenly Ski Resort is 27 miles to the south and adjacent to South Lake Tahoe (35 minutes).
- Squaw Valley is 22 miles to the west and Alpine Meadows is next door (35 minutes). It is possible to use the TART (Tahoe Area Regional Transit) buses to get to Squaw Valley (2 buses).
- Cross country skiing at Spooner Lake is 12 miles to the south.
Where is Incline Village Nevada?
Incline Village is situated on the northeast shore of Lake Tahoe, and only 33 miles by road southwest of Reno Tahoe International Airport and 36 miles from the city of
Reno NV.
There are shuttles from the airport to get to Incline Village, although many people just
rent a car at the airport. There’s nowhere central to stay in Incline Village where you could walk to everything, so having a car is ideal, especially if you want to head to ski resorts other than Diamond Peak. However if you just want to ski at Diamond Peak, you could easily stay at the
Hyatt Hotel and not need a car.
Incline Village Lodging
Incline Village lodging includes luxury resort hotels, cute B&Bs, cabins and vacation homes. There are also lots of condos and town homes located on Ski Way, on the “way” up to Diamond Peak Ski Resort.
The
Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort is the most popular of the Incline Village hotels. This upscale resort is located near the shores of Lake Tahoe.

Facilities & Services
Incline Village has a definite low-key “village” feel, with no swanky tourist shops or trendy cafes. The shops and services are spread out across various little satellites, and these are generally geared to the locals.
The town has a few ski shops, a couple of supermarkets, a handful of basic cafes (for great coffee head to the IV Coffee Lab), a pub, and several restaurants to go out for dinner. One of the loveliest spots to go for dinner or a drink is the Lone Eagle Grille at the Hyatt Hotel. It’s situated right on the beach and a perfect spot to watch the sun go down.
