Boí Taüll Ski Resort Spain
Away from the main Pyrenees mountain divide between Spain & France, the delicious Boi Taull ski resort sits isolated & largely unknown to anyone but the locals. Boasting the highest lifted point in the Spanish Pyrenees (2751m) & with huge freeride possibilities on cold north-facing terrain, Boí Taüll is on our radar as the local pick on a powder day.
Skiing & snowboarding terrain is spread over a relatively modest 731m skiable vertical. However, the high base altitude of 2,020m all but guarantees quality snow. Six chairlifts serve the 44km of piste trails & marked routes on the treeless alpine slopes inbounds.

Those with a good sense of topography will scope out massive freeride lines from the top of the lifts. Further away from the resort, & with much appeal to every respectable powder hound, are freeride routes & tree skiing leading deep into the nearby valleys. A free ski bus does pick-ups from two points in the Vall de Moró and Vall de Ginebrel at hourly intervals from lunchtime - awesome! A freeride map sets it all out - even better.

Where is Boi Taull Spain?
Boí Taüll is set deep in the Vall de Boí of the Catalonian Pyrenees mountains. The main villages of Boi, Taull & Pla de l'Ermita are over 8km from the ski lifts & around 300km (3.5 to 4hr) by road northwest of the international airport at Barcelona (BCN).
The capital of Andorra, Andorra la Vella, is only 54km east of Boi Taull, but a 2¾hr (160km) roundabout journey by road. From France, the airport at Toulouse (TLS) is a 3hr (226km) drive north, providing an alternative (possibly better) international gateway to the resort.
Getting to the ski resort from any of the airports by anything other than car is generally difficult at best. The options are renting a car or taking a private transfer - pricey but convenient & not so hard on the wallet if in a group.

Boí Taüll Ski Accommodation
The resort village of Pla de l'Ermita is the closest accommodation to the mountain, 8km away from the lift base. Lodgings are tastefully done, even if the building placement in somewhat utilitarian. A host of apartments and a few hotels including Aparthotel Siente Boí, SNÖ Vall de Boi plus the El Bouquet guesthouse provide ample beds. Further down the road is the traditional village of Taull – a better option. Further still is the village of Boi & beyond that several wonderful alternatives such as the Hostal La Plaça in the historic hamlet of Erill la Vall.

Review
The Powderhounds were going to review the Spanish Pyrenees & Boi Taull in February 2020, however warm conditions and a questionable local snowpack made us head north the French Alps. More information will follow after our next visit. Stay tuned for our new photos & insights.
