We have been coming to Tyax for many years and will surely come back again.
Next trip planned mid Feb 2024.
The single group heli service and the chance for better weather rather than deeper BC makes a perfect combo. Guides are know the area well and it is huge with a lot of variety (Glacier Runs, steeps stuf and pillows)
Also getting to the lodge is really nice and we always enjoy the amazing seafood in Vancouver. Also the Lodge is very comfortable and the staff is amazing and always up for a fun evening.

A livelong dream came true in January 2023… Together with two other ski fanatics, we stayed at Tyax for a 5 day heli skiing experience. All expectations were beaten. It was a best day ever skiing every day. The guides picked the best spots with great runs whilst ensuring safety for the group, no waiting time between runs and a super fun group of likeminded skiers…
Accommodation and food was outstanding!
I was warned on the flight to Vancouver - if you have once a great experience you will be fixed and will want to come back. And it was true - I am back in 2024.

My 4th time @ Tyax. This time with my two adult sons. Perfect guides and a very professional pilot assured our safety and the joy of skiing in fresh fallen powder. Coming back to the lodge, we were welcomed by a very friendly staff who took care of us with excellent food and perfect service.
This was not my last time @ Tyax and I look forward to ski with you again soon.

Tyax lodge and heliskiing is a great operation. I've been going there for almost 10 years. the terrain is vast with amazing alpine skiing when the sun is shining . its nice to have your own Heli waiting for you at the bottom of each run . if someone gets tired they can simply sit out a run . the program is not rushed , and best of all no matter how many vertical ft you stack up in a week there is never any additional fee at the end of your trip . the lodge and food are also excellent .

I will visit Tyax Heliski for the 6th. time coming March 2024. Each time I visited I have compared heli ski outfits in Canada again and again and each time I ended up at Tyax. Why? Let me sum it up for you.
The major advantage of Tyax is accessibility. At Tyax you can ski, transfer and fly home the next day without a hassle. Most other outfits will require 2 extra days of travel if you want to avoid the chance of missing your connection. So, Tyax will cut your holiday short by 2 extra days. Moreover (specially for intercontinental travelers), Tyax can be combined very well with some days of resort skiing at Whistler to get settled into the new time zone, instead of diving into the powder immediately with your eys vitually shut from lack of sleep. For me this actually was/is one of the most compelling advantages of the location of Tyax.
Secondly, if you compare the small print of the operations of outfits, you will find big differences. The 2 major being the number of groups per helicopter and the (un)limited vertical. Most outfits will have more than one group per helicopter, which results in "waiting for the bus" and thus less runs per day. At Tyax it's your exclusive helicopter. My top day at Tyax still is 21 runs in one day! Yes, some outfits will have 5-seater heli's but I assure you this is not going to be the difference in the runs per day. The other big issue is the limited vertical. Most outfits will have that but will shove it away in the small print. Nothig is more annoying than being confronted halfway the day with something you need to sign to accept more vertical and costs or otherwise stop skiing. At Tyax the vertical is unlimited (all you can ski) with even a guaranteed minimum (or money back).
Of course the lodge, the staff, the food, the rooms and facilities, the staff, the safety (of heli's), etc. are all in good order but I expect they also will be at other outfits. These are disqualifiers at the best. The forementioned themes will be the real qualifiers.

We had a wonderful trip to Tyax in Feb 2020 for our first heli ski trip. Our lead guide Phil was extremely helpful and focused on our safety, plus made sure we had the best experience for our group's ski/board levels and preferences. Helpful that we had a dedicated helicopter for our group most of the trip. The lodging staff were also welcoming and the food was plentiful and delicious - especially loved the on-mountain lunch in the snow bank table, complete with tablecloth and hot soups. The mountain terrain was breathtaking and the runs felt endless with new powder stashes discovered everyday. Easy to get to Tyax with their transportation options from Vancouver. Highly recommend!

Awesome, excellent and exceeded my expectations. The two guides in our group had excellent local knowledge of all the options available each day. The conditions varied each day but the guides were able to find at least 6 inches to 18 inches of new snow each day. The helicopters held 10 skiers and two guides plus the pilot. We were able to unload easily at the top of each run in less than 1 minute. The helicopter was dedicated to our group and was always waiting for us at the bottom of the run. The lodge was very nice, clean and the food was very good.
