On the Slopes
Near the the top of the Riffel II chair on Rendl at 2650m, on the opposite side to the main
St Anton ski area, a winter Via Ferrata (or Klettersteg) can be climbed and an off piste bowl skied back into the resort. Specialist climbing equipment is required. Make inquiries with any local guides.
A 4.3km sledding trail of over 500m vertical can be accessed from the top of Gampen via the Nasserein gondola. It ends in the Nasserein area of St Anton and is open 1200 – 1615hr and 1930-2130hr each day.
Sleds can hired at the gondola base.
The Skischule Arlberg can organise a heli-skiing (or boarding) experience and also arrange ski or snowboard guiding. The heli drops are on limited terrain and are overpriced for what they are. One is better off skinning up & sweating for some fresh turns. Search & book a day in the off-piste with a
mountain guide or instructor.
Off the Slopes
St Anton offers many other activities. Leisurely activities include the cinema, curling, sleigh rides,ice-skating and saunas. The Arlberg-well.com fitness centre is one option for partaking in this Austrian tradition of further de-hydrating yourself. Another activity is a ski and local history museum that outlines the history of St Anton and alpine skiing.
Less relaxing activities include tobogganing, squash, swimming in the pool, indoor rock climbing, and meandering along winter hiking trails. There are also many cross-country trails going between the villages.
