Airport to Ski Resort Transfers - European Alps & Pyrenees
Private transfers offer the single most convenient & efficient mode of travel to most ski resorts in Europe, with the notable exceptions being those attached to train stations, particularly in Switzerland & Austria. Convenience does come at a cost, but if travelling in a group, the price per person can be better than public transport (train-bus). Shared shuttles are also available to several popular ski areas (i.e. Chamonix, 3 Valleys etc.). Shared shuttles offer great value but do generally have a more limited departure schedule.
Geneva (GVA) airport in Switzerland (but right on the French border) offers a convenient, but busy, gateway to French, Swiss & some Italian ski resorts (Aosta valley). Lyon St Exupery (LYS) airport is perfect for all French ski resorts. Zurich (ZRH) airport is fabulous & connects well to all Swiss ski areas, plus those of Vorarlberg & the Tyrol in Austria. Milan Malpensa (MXP) is centrally located so connects well with a festival of Alps & Dolomites ski areas in the four major countries. Munich (MUC) is best for Austria & the major German resorts, but also works well for the Dolomites. Venice (VCE) airport is the best gateway for the Dolomites, whilst Barcelona (BCN) is the most convenient for the Pyrenees in Andorra, France & Spain. For travellers from within Europe & the UK, the airports of Innsbruck (INN), Salzburg (SZG), Champery (CMF), Grenoble (GNB), Bern (BRN), & Turin (TRN) provide closer proximity to the action than some of the major international airports. Sofia (SOF) airport is close to the Bulgarian ski resorts. Other countries like Norway, Sweden, Georgia, Turkey, Nth Macedonia, Kosovo etc. may not have any transfers available, but try the listings regardless.
