Rest Day Turns

08/12/2023
Rest Day Turns
It was time for a rest day after a big powder session at Sapporo Kokusai the day prior, so we bought a 3 hour ticket to check out this little Sapporo ski resort.

It looked busy because there was an abundance of school kids having lessons. Thankfully at the lifts there was a singles queue or the teachers made sure that the kids let us into the lift line so that we never had to wait.

It didn’t take us long to check out the piste terrain. There were ropes and fences to demarcate the courses from the trees, so we assumed that off-piste skiing was taboo (or maybe it was just for safety to prevent school kids accidentally heading into the trees). The limited in-bounds tree zones were easily visible from the lifts and they didn’t look tasty anyhow. Skiers’ right of the ski area was a small treed zone with reasonable pitch. One other hound had been in before us, possibly the day prior, so there were plenty of tracks on offer in amongst the technical trees. Skiers’ left was zipped up tight with fencing.

Fu’s is small so it doesn’t have a lot on offer, but we imagine it could be good for a powder day if some of the larger Sapporo ski areas were shut down by wind.

As you’d expect for a small ski area, it doesn’t rate very highly compared to other Hokkaido ski resort ratings.
