Silver Birch

Silver Birch

Silver Birch cottages in Niseko, constructed of cut timber and logs, are cosy and full of character and charm. They cater for 4 - 5 guests.

Where is Silver Birch?

The cottages are perfectly located in the heart of the Upper Hirafu Village only seconds walk to restaurants, bars and a 2 minute walk to the convenience store. The shuttle bus stop is within 2 minutes walk and the lifts are only a 5 minute (350m) flat walk and you can pretty much ski-in to property.

See the getting to Niseko page for information on the location of Niseko and transport options.

Accommodation

Each cottage has 2 bedrooms downstairs with single beds in each; however half of them have a single bed plus a bunk (making the room capable of sleeping 3 guests). Therefore some cottages have accommodation for 4 and some have accommodation for 5 guests (note additional cost for 5th guest).

Cottage Facilities

Each cottage has a living room with a TV (satellite TV), DVD player and mini hifi.  Each apartment also has wireless broadband internet.

There is a separate  dining area (with seating for either 4 or 5 depending on the number of beds) and a fully equipped kitchen complete with oven, microwave, toaster, sandwich press, blender, kettle, rice cooker, dishwasher and large fridge.

There is 1 bathroom with combined western toilet & shower/bath. Shampoo, conditioner, body soap and hairdryer are also provided.

Each apartment also has its own laundry facilities including washing machine, and ironing board / iron.

There is also a balcony adjoining the upstairs living area where smoking is allowed.

The entrance to each cottage has storage for ski gear and outerwear which serves as a drying area.

Good Price

07/06/2017
When we were looking for accommodation initially, we were a little dismayed that all the Niseko self-contained accom was super luxurious and super expensive flashy apartments. Thankfully we found Silver Birch which provided a great option for self-catered accommodation at a very affordable price.

We initially assumed at these rates that it must have been out in Hicksville, but we were quite impressed with the location. It was an easy walk to the Family lift, and it was very handy being so close to the convenience store to do dashes for snacks and alcohol. We were also in the thick of many of the restaurants so we never had to walk far in the evenings. Bars were also close by, and occasionally we could hear a yobbo yelling out in the middle of the night on the way home from the pub, but overall the location was great.

Not being one of the flashy expensive apartments, as to be expected the décor was not upscale, but it was clean and felt very homely, and log beams added to the ambience.

The bed rooms were a little tight but OK. There was enough room to hang clothes up, but we largely spread out into the living area which had plenty of room (this was our après hangout for eating all those Japanese snacks from the convenience store!). We largely had dinner out, but the kitchen was great for breakfasts and it had everything we needed.

Particularly considering the price, we were very happy with Silver Birch.
