Kitsune Myoko

Kitsune Myoko

Kitsune Myoko

Kistune Myoko (ie Red Fox Myoko) is a friendly lodge located below the Ikenotaira Ski Resort. The lodge owners provide extensive hosting services including transport to 8 ski resorts in the region. Kistune Myoko has double rooms & family rooms (up to 5 pp) with private toilet & communal showers.

The lounge area with its combustion wood fire and lounges, is charming and the hub of relaxation & socialisation.

Where is Kitsune Myoko?

Kistune Myoko is located 1.3km from the Ikenotaira Ski Resort in Myoko. It shouldn’t be confused with the Red Fox Lodge which is located at the base of the Suginohara Ski Resort.

Lime Resort is located 350m walk from the lodge, where you can have an onsen or go for an upscale café lunch.

It doesn’t matter that the lodge isn’t ski-in ski-out or near lots of restaurants because the owners provide an extensive shuttle service to nearby ski resorts (Ikenotaira, Suginohara, Akakura Kanko & Akakura Onsen). On some days, the hosts will also drive you to their “pick of the day resort” which could include Seki Onsen, Madarao and the interconnected Tangram, Lotte Arai, or Kurohime.

Your hosts will also drive you to and from local restaurants in the evening.

Arrival and departure transfers between the Myoko train station and the lodge are provided.

Easy Access to Lots of Ski Resorts

Our double room
The social hub of the lodge
Staying at Kitsune Myoko would be more aptly described as an experience rather than just accommodation, so we highly recommend this lodge if you're looking for affordable accommodation & to explore Myoko. Lisa and Dave are passionate about their lodge and they work around the clock to make sure all guests have a great time.

They provide advice about which ski resort to head to for the day or info on other activities, and provide transport to these (within reason). They may even go riding with you and show you some of their powder stashes. They also organise dinners out and will accompany you if you like.

We’d heard stories of people staying in Akakura and only skiing and dining in Akakura because the buses or taxis to other areas were too expensive. It was almost better for us staying away from the slopes and main village and having transport on offer, because it meant that we could easily explore more of Myoko.

Our room was small and simple, yet it did the trick and it was great that we had a private toilet. The shared showers were adequate and it was also easy to wander up to the Lime Resort for an upscale onsen instead.

We spent a bit of time in the lounge where the wifi worked well, to get a bit of work done. It was such a lovely environment with the warm fire, and Dave and Lisa ensured that there was a great group dynamic, so it was a very social spot. The continental breakfast was simple but effective, although some brewed coffee would have been ideal rather than instant coffee, and one morning (definitely not a powder day) we were treated to a cooked breakfast with eggs and yummy mushroom and asparagus. The après ski snacks whilst we were having a beverage were also a nice touch, and it encouraged guests to gather for a debrief on the day’s activities.
