Downtown Naeba Accommodation
There is a collection of Naeba hotels located adjacent to the slopes to the south of the Naeba Prince Hotel, and only a 3 to 5 minute walk to the ski resort. Most of these hotels provide rather simple and inexpensive accommodation.
In the town of Naeba (Mikuni) there are various other accommodation options. They require a walk of up to 15 minutes to get to the ski resort although most accommodations provide a complimentary shuttle service to/from the resort. The Naeba accommodation in town is typically very inexpensive.
Kagura Accommodation
The base areas of the Kagura Ski Resort of Tashiro and Mitsumata have very small villages. Some of the Kagura accommodation is within very easy walking distances of the
Kagura Ski Resort.
With the exception of a deluxe ryokan, Kagura accommodation is typically very simple and inexpensive, and English is not spoken at some of the lodges. Other than soaking in the onsen, there is nothing happening in these Kagura villages outside of the accommodation, so you’ll need to dine in.
Naeba Ski Resort Accommodation
The Naeba Prince Hotel is the main Naeba Ski Resort accommodation located at the base of the slopes. The hotel is a series of interconnected towers that are spread across the base of the ski resort. It’s almost like a mini city! This western style resort hotel in Naeba provides a range of hotel rooms including standard twin rooms, family rooms, interconnected rooms and suites.
The Prince Hotel has lots of advantages; all the facilities you could wish for and the superb convenience of being directly slopeside.
Naeba & Kagura Accommodation
The primarily Naeba accommodation is the massive Naeba Prince Hotel which is located at the base of the
Naeba Ski Resort. In addition to the convenience of ski-in ski-out Naeba accommodation, this Naeba hotel provides extensive facilities and services.
The town of Naeba (Mikuni) also provides lots of lodging options including standard hotels, ryokan and inexpensive pensions. Much of this Naeba accommodation requires a 5-10 minute walk to get to the slopes, or shuttles to/from the slopes are provided by the accommodation host.
Naeba Ski Resort is inter-connected with the
Kagura Ski Resort, and further lodging can be found near the base areas of Kagura including rather budget oriented accommodation.
The other option is to stay in a
Yuzawa hotel, which is ideal if you want to sample multiple
Yuzawa ski resorts. If you stay in one of the Yuzawa hotels near the train station you can get to other Yuzawa ski resorts via the bus system. Yuzawa has nice Japanese style hotels and ryokans where you can fully immerse yourself in the culture, and the town has a good range of restaurants and bars.
See the Japanese accommodation page for an overview of western vs Japanese rooms and the types of lodging typically found at the Japan ski resorts.
