I stayed at Apple Inn Takasaka on 3 different occasions during my stay in Nozawa. Apple Inn Takasaka is well situated on a quiet street about 5-10 minutes walk from the main downtown area. It has a well kept feel and look. The shared bathrooms were impeccable. The rooms that I stayed in were traditional tatami with futon and good quality linens and duvets and pillows. The breakfasts were among the best I had during my 2 month ski tour of Honshu and Hokkaido. I appreciate traditional Japanese food and there was something new for me to discover each day. There is a comfortable common room with heated table. The ski room is small but adequate. Wifi was good. There is a European style bakery 100 meters walk and an excellent restaurant about 200 meters walk. One onset is 100 meters away. It is a reasonable walk to the west side lift, perhaps 10 minutes.
Japan has high standards for this sort of small family style inn. I feel very fortunate to have been introduced to Apple Inn Takasaka by friends living in Japan.
