This snowboard instructors course is designed as a comprehensive NZSIA level 1 course for snowboarders to learn how to instruct beginner snowboarders.
Combine this with some great riding and cultural experiences in Myoko Kogen in Japan and you will have the time of your life.
Your accommodation is at a
Mountain Hut Lodge in Myoko where you will be treated to wonderful hospitality by your hosts.
Each day your hosts will shuttle you in a private vehicle to the ski area where your instruction will take place.
On day 1, you will freeski at Myoko Kogen and your hosts will show you around the mountain.
Course Overview
This Level 1 Snowboard Instructor Program, conducted by the New Zealand Snowsports Instructors Alliance (NZSIA), offers comprehensive training and examination tailored for budding instructors. The course delves deep into teaching methodologies, rider development, technical snowboarding concepts, and the SBINZ progression tailored for novice snowboarders. A special emphasis is placed on mastering demonstrations tailored for beginners, ensuring participants are well equipped to excel in the realm of snowboarding instruction.
Minimum Ability
The program is open to a diverse group of individuals from various backgrounds and ages, and who can at least link turns on blue runs in any conditions and are ready for some groomed black runs. It's an ideal course for gap-year students and aspiring instructors planning to secure employment in the upcoming season in Australia and NZ.
Prerequisite
Before embarking on the on-snow training, it's mandatory to complete the Level 1 eLearning course. This online course covers theory, movement analysis, and lesson planning. You can access the eLearning courses on the NZSIA website (www.nzsia.org/member/). You will need to complete this at least 48 hours before your practical course begins.
Equipment Recommendations:
For qualification courses and exams, it is recommended using either a twin or a directional twin board with sharp edges. These types of boards facilitate demonstrations of switch and freestyle riding, which are integral to the course.
