We did a package with Japan Snowsports which included six nights of lodging and four days of guiding. Our guide was Dutchie, one of the owners. He took us to four different resorts and knew them all very well. We were focused on skiing trees and side country and Dutchie took us to many untracked powder runs, pretty easily accessed from the lifts. Dutchie focused on safety in this terrain and we felt very comfortable under his guidance. As a bonus Dutchie is also an accomplished ski instructor and gave us some great tips to navigate the deep pow. His wife Annie was our contact during the booking and planning process and was always super responsive to our inquiries. As for the lodge itself, it provides very comfortable accommodations. It's location in Madararo puts in close proximity to that mountain, but Dutchie took us to three other resorts in addition. The lodge serves a fantastic breakfast each morning including fresh baked sour dough bread as well as gluten free options. We also spent a week in Hakuba during this trip and did a couple of guided days there. But our time with Dutchie and Annie in Madarao was clearly the highlight of our trip.
