Great trip with awesome guides

08/09/2024
Not long back from a wonderful "all mountain off piste" trip with PowderQuest led by our awesome guides Chris & Ro. I wasn't sure what to expect from Chile but this trip exceeded it by miles - great snow, accommodation, food, wine and logistics;
but most of all our guides & a group of like minded snow seekers - riding powder in August has to be one of my 30+ years of snowboarding highlights (especially when it's as empty as La Parva was!). I've had a few great guided trips and this really is up there: highly recommended!

My only tip would be to get PQ to arrange a taxi from the airport to the meetup point to ease the initial journey after a long flight (and allow 1 hour to enter & exit Chile) - after that *everything* is taken care of.

I just turned 30 and I was eager for an adventure. I signed up on this trip not knowing what to expect. Chris and Ro were absolutely amazing the love they have for the hills and their local community made the trip so enjoyable. The laughs they share, the knowledge they know. I wasn’t sure about my skill level but they reassured me, spent some extra time with me, and Chris even gave me some pointers on how to improve my snowboarding. If you long for the snow, want to embrace a new culture, see some amazing views and slopes Chris and Ro are who you want. They make your trip unforgettable to the point where all you can think is man I can’t wait to go back!

This is a 4th trip with Powderquest - and I keep coming back to this company because they provide fantastic tours, with superb guides. This latest trip to Chile 2024, was no exception. Chris and Ro found us powder runs, just off the main lifts of the resorts and guided us expertly throughout the week. Powder Lodge in Farrelones is also worth a mention, with its beautiful sunsets and home cooked food.

Great Terrain and Guides

29/07/2024
With Jarek Nieto a true Powderhound
Backcountry
La Parva (has great side-country terrain)
The group
Nevados de Chillan
This tour exceeded my expectations. The terrain was bigger, steeper, and better than I thought it would be. The guides (Jarek Nieto and Chris Garcia) were more experienced and more helpful than I expected. As longtime instructors, they helped us all improve our technique and I learn about reading snow and terrain conditions. They were also very entertaining and fun.

From a nostalgia point of view, skiing in Chile in 2024 felt like skiing in the USA in the 90s before everything got so crazy in the ski industry!

Even in good snow years, the Southern hemisphere snow can be challenging, so be ready for anything. More people wanted to come than there were beds available in Farellones — so best to book early since there are not a lot of hotel/inn options. Powderquest also helped me to arrange a day ski trip to Portillo from Santiago that was great. One day in Portillo was just right.

Best Guides in South America

I have traveled to South America twice with PowderQuest - first time was to Argentina and just got back from a week in Chile. Though Chile had a rough season as far as snow fall, we lucked out and arrived just as a storm brought in a few feet. Our local Chilean guides, Chris and Alvaro, made sure our group of 6 was constantly in the loop as far as weather conditions, what resorts they recommended each day based on several factors, and when weather or road conditions didn't allow us to ski/ride, they found fun alternate things for us to do. On the days we did get to ski, they were patient, fun, knowledgeable, and super helpful. They split the group into two according to skill level so no one felt slowed down or pressured to keep up, which was perfect. I couldn't believe they were able to find powder stashes with fresh lines even 2 days after a storm rolled in (I'm used to powder getting tracked out in 10 minutes in California!). I also appreciated that they are ski instructor trainers (meaning they train other instructors) so were able to give me tips about snowboarding I've never heard though I've taken advanced lessons in the past.

We were supposed to go cat skiing one day but the road to Arpa was closed so Chris and Alvaro arranged a trip to the coast to Valparaiso, which turned out to be super fun and a great way to explore a different part of Chile. We were refunded the money for the cat skiing day, which I really appreciated.

The tour itself includes all the lodging and transportation between places once the tour starts, plus breakfasts and dinners together (we had lunch on the mountain together as well, but on our own dime), which really created a sense of camaraderie and allowed six people to get to know each other quickly. We came as strangers and left as friends.

I would definitely board with PowderQuest again!

Just finished my week in Chile on the All Mountain Resort and Off Piste vacation.

The PowderQuest team did good! Fabulous experience. Alvaro and Christian our guides were not only amazingly talented athletes but fantastic leaders and diplomats, encouraging us all to get the very best out of ourselves each day. They are a credit to PowderQuest. I should also mention the driver Philippe who was unfailingly patient and helpful. The food and lodge accommodation were also excellent as were the hotel and the restaurants in Santiago. I leave feeling certain that I was honored to participate and I will be back with PowderQuest because you hire such great people. A life affirming experience. And I should also mention my snowboarding was completely transformed. Thank you all at PowderQuest. I cannot wait for next year. Hasta la vista!

Unforgettable!

I went on this tour (Snowboarder) in early Aug 2019. Snowfall was weak at Valle Nevada and El Colorado that year and concerning to say the least!

Powderquest is run by seasoned professionals - they made the hard call to force a change in our tour and we went to Nevadas de Chillán after two days of getting our legs warmed up. This decision saved the trip! Chillán received some fresh snowfall and our guides found us untouched snow and fun lines every day.

I found the accommodations a lot of fun, but also relaxing. The team at Farallones made great food, entertained and were amazing hosts. Chillán was great as well.

Special shout out! - Christian was the snowboarder in our guide team. I didn't appreciate the value of having an experienced instructor on the tour until he changed how I ride. I built a lot of bad habits through a handful of years with minimal riding. Christian explained the proper techniques in simple terms and worked with us throughout the trip whenever we wanted, to work out the kinks. Thank you, Chris!

Thanks Powderquest for the memories!
