Tohoku Trippin'
This tour is a great way to get off the beaten track to lesser known Japanese ski resorts and rural areas of Tohoku.
The Tohoku Trippin' tour is a
fully customisable tour for PRIVATE GROUPS.
Tohoku may be the last undiscovered frontier of Japan powder skiing. This region is defined as the northern portion of Japan`s main island of Honshu encompassing the prefectures of
Aomori,
Akita,
Iwate,
Fukushima, Miyagi and Yamagata. The area is dotted with small resorts, receives plenty of snow, and cooler temperatures in Tohoku make conditions more reliable than further south in the better known areas of Hakuba and Niigata.
You can also expect to find far fewer foreigners which adds up to less competition on a powder day.
There are a variety of ways to set up a trip to Tohoku, but one option is to spend a few days based in the city of Morioka in Iwate Prefecture and then head up to Aomori Prefecture to hit the famed Hakkoda (see itinerary). You can mostly use the lifts to access the powder stashes, or with a ski touring or splitboard setup, you can access additional primo powder. It's your tour so it's up to you.
Please
make a booking request for more information and/or a custom itinerary that fits your time frame and requirements, and to check regarding guide availability.
Ability
To get the most out of this tour, RSGs recommend you be a MINIMUM
strong intermediate skier/boarder. You should be able to confidently link together tight turns on black runs and ideally have some powder skiing/riding experience.
As it is your tour, you can ultimately influence your guide as to the types of terrain you want to ski/ride in and whether you want to do any hiking or touring away from the lifts to access the steep & deep.
