Run after run of first tracks

We are the luckiest people. Skied Tohoku in February just as the storms returned on a record year. Grant and Jeremy were perfect guides. They could sniff out the untracked powder and the we could farm it all day. The option of cat skiing was a great decision as well. We felt a little guilty grabbing so many first tracks when others were still hiking up … but not too guilty.

Not sure how the snow is so light when the altitude is so low but it works well for an older group like ours (in our 60’s). Also, most of the powder runs are in the trees and fairly low angle. Perfectly spaced trees.

The local people are kind, and the food is amazing,!
Such a great trip, would highly recommend The Adventure Project and this trip that is off the beaten tourist path!

Tohoku Powder Sessions - Awesome

The Adventure Project exceeded my expectations! The Guides always put you on the best powder that's available locally and their knowledge of the side country is top notch. I enjoyed my two weeks touring with them and would do it again. Definitely one of the best parts of the trip was the flexibility of having small groups that are nimble and easily split if the conditions call for it or the mountain just doesn't have the goods. It was nice to hit more then one area in a day with Japan's hourly lift tickets. AAA experience!

A trip to Tohoku with The Adventure Project and Matt is so, so much more than skiing. Matt’s knowledge of the region, the cultural offerings and off-the-beaten-path ski areas is unmatched. A true trip of a lifetime.

The skiing was fantastic with powder turns galore at smaller ski areas and their sidecountry. Matt knows where the best snow is and how to get to it and ski it safely. But a trip with TAP is more than skiing — the little eateries, shrines and other cultural activities really made my adventure special. More adventures with Matt and his crew is on my docket.

Deep pow
Tohoku area is a hidden gem, lots of quiet resorts with few foreigners and deep powder. Visited in Jan 2023 and The Adventure Project team made this a great trip. Love not having to think about trip details, just enjoy pow, people, food and culture.

The Adventure Project Tohoku Session

The Adventure Project Tohoku sessions, are a beautiful blend of hidden powder stashes and countryside Japanese culture. We were riding hidden backcountry options that were both skin in and lift serve. Riding with the adventure project is like being in a "living classroom" of learning the entire session. Also, Matt has a keen sense and usually finds epic conditions.
