Best powder day I have ever had

This was my first cat skiing experience and it was awesome. We had fresh tracks on every run and the snow was epic. The two guides Jonny and Bo focused on safety and providing a great guest experience. After the first run, they saw the group was all able to ski well and they sought out some fun steep runs for us. Highly recommend taking a trip with PC Powdercats. We did one day with them, other repeat customers in our group did 2days or 3days with them. Lunch was delicious. I will be back next winter for sure!!!

Disappointed

I took one run, fell twice and never felt comfortable at all. It seemed like every other skier in our cat was wanting to access more extreme terrain, so I thought I would hold back everyone. I rode the cat the rest of the way.

Wondering if you would consider grouping your cats by ability levels. I would have taken more runs if I did not feel like I was holding up the rest of the group. I think the majority of our skiers were experts.

At the end of the day, my wives skis were accidentally taken by another patron. The staff worked hard to get them back to her the next night.

I also think that a shuttle would be helpful.

Editors note: Park City Powdercats are quite up front that the terrain necessitates a minimum ability of advanced not intermediate, and there isn't "extreme terrain" so it's unlikely the other guests were looking for extreme terrain.

Park City Powdercats is a first class operation with spectacular terrain, top notch guides, and friendly employees. We were able to get 9 solid runs on varying terrain. I have heliskied and cat skied with other operations and none have come close to PC Powdercats in regards to the terrain offered, the higher level of difficulty of the runs skied, and the friendliness of the staff. I will ski with them again and highly recommend this operation.

My first time ever in a snow cat. Nice drive out to the place, people at front desk fun and helpful. Very organized and good food (coffee and stuff) for those running later. Orientation was all about safety - easy to understand. Great group joining my son and myself. So, had not snowed in at least two weeks and guide took us to completely untracked runs. We had 9 awesome runs including one line/area the whole group wanted to do again. Great lunch break at an Aspen tree glade then a few more runs. They really made the most out of poor snow conditions and each run was nice and untracked. Looking forward to coming back next year when there is fresher snow and more options.

Great Big Terrain

08/03/2015
We absolutely loved cat skiing with Park City Powder Cats in Utah and can highly recommend it. Unlike some US cat skiing which is a little mickey mouse, this is real backcountry snowcat skiing. We were particularly impressed with the terrain, and the delightfully pitchy bowls.

We visited after a dry and warm spell, but the guides were still about to find decent snow, in part because of the huge amount of terrain they can choose from.

Note that our ratings are often lower than those of public reviews. If you’ve never been cat skiing before (or only a few times), it may well be one of the best days of your life and worthy of 5 paws all round. However we try to distinguish the subtleties between heli and cat skiing operations across the world. As a guide to the ratings below, a 5/5 equates to truly phenomenal, 4/5 is excellent, and 3/5 is very good.

I went out with PCP a few years ago. We had a good time but there were some areas for improvement.

The terrain was impressive if you like steep bowls. The tree runs were rather short.
The whole trip was pretty rushed. They called it an "all day" trip but we took our last run at about 1:00 pm and then packed it in after only 5 runs. There were some VIP's (magazine photographers) on board who needed to get to the airport, they said. The VIP's were also given first tracks on most runs while the paying clients took the leftovers.

Still, the snow was epic powder, even four days after the last storm. The bowls looked like Warren Miller type terrain. However, we were told many times to keep our tracks close together to "save some for the next group", even though the guides kept pointing out thousands of acres of additional untracked terrain they had access to. And a big storm was coming in the next day anyway... Go figure.

Over all, if you haven't been cat skiing in Utah, this would be a good starter trip, due to the close proximity to Park City. Who knows, maybe things have changed in the last few years. If I went with them again, I would ask how many vertical feet they guarantee before committing. I would also try to stay away if there are VIPs on the trip. Know before you go!

This team of cat operators are AWESOME! Friendly, efficient and well trained, very professional. The food was awesome and the guides worked their butts off making sure everyone was safe, having fun, and riding in a safe environment! Oh and the Powder, well you know it's Utah in a word "perfect".

Thank You, Thank you, Thank you!

Be back soon,

Vince
