I went to Mt Bachelor during the best week you could ask for. The region got about 4 feet of snow the 2 days prior to flying in. The way this mountain handled covid and crowds was a disaster. The first 2 days, only 3 lifts were open. Thousands of people hoping to ski the terrain on the backside were now waiting in 45 minute lift lines to ride the boring front side. It took them 3 days to open the backside of the mountain where the better terrain was. They were only allowing single parties to ride the lift up because of covid so you would be waiting in a ridiculously long queue while watching 2 people riding up 4 or 6 person lifts. It would make a lot more sense to load up the lifts and not have hundreds of people congregated in the lift lines if your that concerned about covid. They also had about 8 workers on mask patrol at each lift who were in your face if your nose popped out of your mask for 1 second. That explains why it took them 3 days to get the other side of the mountain open. The skiing was great when the back side finally opened and you finally made it through the line but we were getting in about 6 runs in 7 hours of skiing.

Very nice resort, good restaurants, and a nice vibe overall....for the most part.
The resort botched the COVID year bad. They made it so unsavory to park and ride, I rode only 5 days on my pass... the ride share/ parking policy was ludicrous ... they actually encouraged people to carpool during Covid...so stupid. I have been a pass holder for a long time, and lost all respect for the mountain last year. I usually go more for the social experience of the mountain, not for great skiing. the terrain is monotonous, boring, and flat. That being said, beginners would probably love it. Summit lift has the only moderately challenging terrain on the mountain and it is literally never open.

Over sold lift tickets during a pandemic! Lift lines were beyond stupid! We averaged maybe 1 run per hour. 3 days in a row of constantly waiting in lift lines, was a real burn out. Worst 'ski trip' I have ever had, will not return.

We managed to score a couple of bluebird days just after a snowfall, so it was bliss to ride powder at Bachelor with such great visibility. It was easy to see why so many people rave about Mount Bachelor. It is a great all-rounder and also a good spot for powder hounds, but the important question is “how far would I be willing to travel to go to Bachelor?”.
This might put my thoughts about Mt Bachelor into perspective:
Would I go there if I lived in Oregon (or Seattle)? – absolutely
Would I include it on a road trip of other PNW ski areas? – definitely
Would I include it on a big road trip of western US ski resorts? - possibly
Would I fly there from other parts of the US or internationally especially just to go to Bachelor? – probably not
Would I fly there from other parts of the US or internationally especially just to go to Bachelor if I had the family in tow? – no.

We visited on a very peak weekend, so we went with our eyes wide open for potential crowds. The base area was understandably crazy and there was a big yet well organised lift queue to get up from the base, however once we were up the first lift, the crowds spread out quickly. We spent a lot of time riding off the Summit and NW chairs and there weren’t that many people around, and surprisingly we could find freshies if we poked around a bit.

Lunch time was really the only time that the crowds were a problem. The hour-long line just to order a meal at the Pine Marten Lodge were a complete joke. It would have made a great case study for systems inefficiencies for a student studying Lean thinking or systems reengineering.

We loved Bend which is a town with plenty of pizazz. It was so refreshing to visit a few of the Bend restaurants and enjoy great cuisine after spending too much time in Montana and Idaho where they think bison burgers are gourmet.
