Snowbird lodging primarily consists of four hotel condo lodges that provide a total of 882 rooms. The Snowbird lodges are solidly made of concrete to withstand the risks within the avalanche-prone canyon, so the exteriors have more of an emphasis on functionality rather than attractiveness. All four Snowbird lodgings have great amenities and are incredibly conveniently located near the ski lifts, but they won’t suit the budget conscious.
Snowbird lodging can be booked as part of
Snowbird ski packages, or
The Cliff Lodge and the
Lodge at Snowbird can be booked as lodging only.
Snowbird Lodging, Hotels & Condos
The Cliff Lodge is ski-in ski-out to the main beginners’ run and is a well known Snowbird hotel that is somewhat like The Titanic. Obviously it won’t sink, but it’s colossal and has all the luxurious trimmings including a day spa, outdoor heated swimming pool, hot tubs, fine dining, shops and heated boot lockers in every room. The multi-storey atrium is decked out with oriental rugs that are a bit OTT. Standard hotel rooms have two queen beds, and there are deluxe rooms with king beds, and 1 bedroom (sleeps 6) and 2 bedroom suites (sleeps 8). All rooms and suites have spectacular views, and the tariffs have a price tag that you would expect for such luxury. The child care facility is located here, so this is a great spot to stay if you want easy access to the childcare facility.

The Lodge at Snowbird offers hotel and condo accommodations with a myriad of configurations. This Snowbird lodging is located within short walking distance of the Snowbird Center and Tram. This is the original Snowbird lodge, and whilst it’s been renovated it still has fantastic retro décor that may make you feel like you’re in a glamorous James Bond movie. Not quite as luxurious as the Cliff Lodge, the Lodge at Snowbird is very comfortable and has amenities such as swimming pools and hot tubs.
The next lodge along is The Inn, which is still within easy walking distance of the slopes. The Inn provides a variety of lodging options, an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, steam room and fitness facility. Slightly further along is the Iron Blosam Lodge which offers condos and studio rooms at lower rates than the Cliff Lodge.
Alta Lodging
There are shuttle buses between Alta and Snowbird, or you can ski between the inter-linked resorts.
Alta accommodations consist of five Alta lodges spread across the base areas. The lodges are all a charming experience rather than just a place to lay your head. Prices are more reasonable than Snowbird, but still not inexpensive considering the gourmet food that is generally included in all the lodging packages.
The Powderhounds have stayed at two of the Alta lodges. The
Alta Peruvian Lodge is the pick if you want very social and rustic accommodations, or the
Snowpine Lodge for delightful upscale rustic and boutique accommodations.

Salt Lake City Hotels
Snowbird is in close proximity to Salt Lake City (SLC), so some visitors choose to stay downtown or in the surrounding suburbs in hotels, motels, hostels and bed and breakfasts. Salt Lake City hotels are significantly cheaper and provide the advantage of more options for dining, nightlife and shopping.
Cottonwood Heights and
Midvale (just 30 mins drive from downtown SLC) are located between the two Cottonwood Canyons where some great value hotels can be found, plus there are several local dining options or you can easily slip into downtown SLC.
Cottonwood Heights is located only 12 miles from the Snowbird Resort (about 20-25 minute drive depending on road conditions). The following properties are located in Cottonwood Heights.

The occasional disadvantage of not staying on-mountain is the road closures for avalanche control on huge powder days. The roads to other ski resorts in Park City (and possibly Big Cottonwood Canyon) are not likely to be closed, so you can make the most of a powder day at another resort if this occurs.
