The Sahoro Resort is in Central Hokkaido, a region known for its high snow quality. Sahoro is 167km east of Sapporo and 130km from the New Chitose Airport (Sapporo International Airport). Flights to the Sapporo Airport originate from various airports around Japan, as well as other Asian cities such as Seoul-Incheon (South Korea), Hong Kong, Taipei, Shanghai, Bangkok and Kuala-Lumpar.

From the airport, Club Med will organise either scheduled or private transfers to and from the resort.

Dining and Bars

The main restaurant is a large restaurant with an extensive range of buffet items and some cooked to order fare. The food is very impressive and very multi-cultural, so you'll need to ski or snowboard hard during the day if you want to sample all the food! Western food is available for the kids, and they have a baby corner with food and amenities for babies.

The Mina Mina Restaurant offers more traditional Hokkaido mountain food including Nabe hot pot and Hokkaido fondue (for an additional fee).

Club Med Sahoro has a bar and most alcoholic beverages are included in the package, so go for it!! There is even a dance floor (!) but keep your expectations for a raging nightlife pretty low as the main focus is the entertainment shows put on by the staff. The bar offers a range of snacks throughout most of the day.

Why Stay at the Sahoro Club Med?

The Club Med Sahoro Hokkaido is fantastic if you want a holiday where you'll know how much the total package will cost. It provides good value if you want to take all the ski lessons and fully utilise the kids' facilities (and drink lots of alcohol!).

Fantastic Concept For Families

Plenty of great food & alcoholic beverages
Convenient Ski-In Location
Different shows are held nightly
More lovely food
Club Med Sahoro

We really enjoyed our time at Club Med Sahoro. Everything was so fabulously easy including access to the slopes, and our room was very spacious and quiet, and it offered lovely views. And we loved all the culinary delights and the drinks (perhaps a little too much on both accounts?!).

Pros

  • Deluxe and well sized hotel rooms
  • The service levels were very high.
  • The amenities of the hotel (e.g. pool, Jacuzzi, day spa) were impressive.
  • Incredibly family friendly and extensive kids program: on-snow and off-snow
  • The ski-in ski-out location was fantastic (although the trail out may require a little poling or skating).
  • It's based at Sahoro which has excellent beginner terrain and very good tree skiing. Of course, Sahoro also features the high quality Hokkaido powder.
  • You won't go hungry! The buffet offerings were extensive and varied a lot each day, and for a change, the shabu shabu restaurant was lovely.

Pro or Con Depending On Your Perspective

  • Buffet meals 3 times a day are not for everyone.
  • All staff speak English and all culinary tastes are catered for in the buffet restaurant, but you wouldn't know you were in Japan inside the hotel.
  • If you want a little adults-only time or a quiet drink at the bar, it can be difficult. There are no adults-only areas in the hotel (including the bar which seems a little strange).
  • It's so convenient and easy to retreat to the hotel after skiing each day, but if you want to get out and about, there isn't anywhere to go.
  • The value of a package really depends on the degree to which you'll utilise the elements. Will you enjoy the evening entertainment shows, for which the staff spend hours practising? Will you eat and drink a lot? Will you take twice daily ski/snowboard lessons? Will you use the child care facilities?

We met lots of other guests at Club Med. Some of them had been multiple times whilst all absolutely raved about their experience. It's a great concept!

Interestingly, when we stayed there, of the hundreds of guests only a handful were snowboarders. Skiing was very trendy!
