A Modern Resort

26/06/2014
We visited Alts on a weekend as part of a Powder Odyssey tour. Amongst many other benefits, one pro of heading there with Powder Recon was that they knew how to respectfully head into the off-piste areas without annoying the ski patrollers. The runs through the reasonably spaced trees were rather short before they popped back out onto a run, but other than the occasional creek, the areas were easy to navigate. The runs weren’t steep but plenty of fun because the freshies were all ours!

After playing in the off-piste areas where it was deserted, it was a bit of a shock to return to the front-side and see all the masses on the slopes and at the base areas. The long queue to the creperie was particularly remarkable!

We stayed at the hotel which was just beautiful and very modern (which seems somewhat of a rarity at many Japanese ski resorts), and the buffet dinner was impressive.

We could recommend this resort for powder hounds for a day or two, or for families for 3-4 days in combination with other ski resorts (if lessons are required, you’d need to pay the premium for private lessons).
