Staying at the Chateau Lake Louise on the shores of the lake or at nearby Deer Lodge, provide the advantage of easy access to the activities that are centred around the lake such as cross country skiing, ice skating and sleigh rides. The views across the lake are also a major drawcard.

There is an option for Lake Louise lodging that's a little further afield from the Lake Louise Ski Resort, the lake, and the village - ideal if you have a car.
The other option is to stay in
Banff lodging and commute to Lake Louise via car or shuttle bus each day. The advantage of staying in Banff is that there is a vibrant nightlife, lots of shops and other activities for tourists.
Lake Louise Accommodation
The Lake Louise accommodations include a handful of hotels and a hostel. The Lake Louise hotels are not located on-mountain at the Lake Louise Ski Resort, but rather in the quiet village nearby (about 3km from the ski area) or near the shores of the lake itself (another 4km away). If you don’t have a car, there are shuttle buses that provide transport between the hotels in Lake Louise and the ski area. Hotels on the shuttle bus route to Lake Louise (and also to Sunshine Village and Norquay) are Chateau Lake Louise, Deer Lodge, Mountaineer Lodge, and Lake Louise Inn.
