How To Get There

Wagner Custome Skis

Where is Nakiska?

The Nakiska ski resort is less than an hour from Calgary. It is in Kananaskis Country (in order to remember the name of this area, we used to call it “Can Anna Ski” even though that’s not quite how you pronounce it!).

Other Ski Resorts Nearby

Fortress Mountain is also in Kananaskis Country, and other resorts nearby include Norquay, Sunshine Village and Lake Louise ski resort.

Getting To Nakiska

Most visitors choose to hire a car whilst in the area to optimise the flexibility of visiting multiple resorts and undertaking other activities. From Calgary it’s an 83km drive west along highway 1 and then south on highway 40. From Banff it’s only 81km with a drive east on highway 1 and then south on highway 40. There is very obvious sign-posting so there’s no fear of getting lost. From Canmore (between Banff and Nakiska), it’s even closer and only a 35 minute drive (56km). The village of Kananaskis is only 2.5km from the ski area.

If you choose not to rent a car, there are shuttle buses available from the airport. There are also Greyhound buses to Nakiska from Calgary and Banff.
