Packages are for early December & March and include return airport transfers, 7 nights of accommodation in a rustic alpine hut, all meals whilst in Adjara & 6 days of fully guided cat-supported freetouring.
Throughout the main part of winter, full cat-ski only trips are available in Adjara for expert skiers & snowboarders. For more info & booking, see the Adjara Cat Ski page.
Freetouring
Conditions in the high alpine zone of Adjara are perfect for combined cat-skiing & touring. The ski touring explores areas beyond the reach of the snowcats & up to the highest peaks in the region. Each day can include around 3 hours of time in the snowcat to get to the most interesting backcountry locations. Each night you will return to the comfort of the base in the alpine hut high on an alpine ridge. for more info see the Itinerary tab.
Accommodation & Food
Adjara's mountain hut is located on an alpine ridge at 2,400m altitude. The alpine huts's location, food, living space & hospitality provide a wonderful start and end to an adventurous day. For more details, see the Lodging tab.
Getting There
Adjara is located in southwestern Georgia near the remote village of Bakhmaro. The closest major Georgian cities are Kutaisi & Batumi. For more information on how to get to Georgia & the preferred gateway airport of Kutaisi (KUT), see our Bakhmaro & Adjara Location page.
Snow & Terrain
The terrain includes amazing multi-aspect, high alpine terrain between 1,800m and over 2,755m elevation in the snowy 'Little' Caucasus of southern Georgia. Tree-skiing is excellent below 2,100m, but the closest runs are some distance from the Adjara hut (check out the Bakhmaro cat ski tours for more tree-skiing). Tree runs with names like "Big in Japan' indicate the quality of the ski experience here, and from the hut in Adjara you can ski right from the door into sensational above treeline terrain. High amounts of snowfall, provide generally excellent conditions. In December and March during the Cat Ski & Tour programs, snow conditions can vary from deep powder to early Spring corn. Regardless of the conditions, exploring the area by snowcat & ski is definitely worth the journey. The amount of skiing done is dictated by the weather & the fitness of the group.
Safety & Guiding
Cat Ski & Tour groups in Adjara are generally limited to a maximum of 8 to 10 guests. The operation is run by a reliable and professionalism German / Swiss organization, where quality and safety management is paramount.
Tour groups are led by a local guide from the professional Georgian Mountain Guides Association overseen by a professional guide from the Alps.
