Where to Stay at Monterosa Ski

Spanning three main valleys, the Monterosa Ski region has a plethora of accommodation options in the ski resort villages of Champoluc, Gressoney la Trinite, Alagna Valsesia and numerous high alpine rifugi. Each valley has its own merits depending on what one is after. Alagna Valsesia is the most accessible from Milan, whilst the other valleys are best approached via Turin or Aosta.

Best Champoluc, Frachey & St Jacques Accommodation

Champoluc is the most westerly valley in the Monterosa ski resort. Combined with the quiet, traditional hamlets of Frachey and St Jacques to the north, the area is the starting point for skiing & snowboarding the Monterosa via the new Crest gondola in Champoluc, or the new Frachey funicular.

The newest & best accommodation in the entire Monterosa ski area is located between Champoluc & Frachey. The CampZero Active & Luxury Resort Hotel sets the perfect tone for a visit to the area........ if you can afford it!

There is some ski-in accommodation available around the base of the Crest gondola. Nearby a range of excellent hotels, apartments are available. Some of the better ones include Hotel du Champoluc, Hotel Relais Des Glaciers Spa Resort, Charmant Petit Hotel & Les Maisonnettes Apartments.

For first tracks & a true ski in ski out lodging experience try the Hotel Refuge Cre Forne or the more traditional Rifugio Belvedere.

Best Gressoney la Trinite & Stafal Accommodation

The Gressoney valley is central to all main ski areas of the Monterosa. Whilst Gressoney la Trinite is a larger village, by far the better access to the ski slopes and lifts is from further up the valley at Stafal. In Gressoney, try the Hotel ValverdeHotel Jolanda SportHotel Dufour B&B Gressoney .

For a true high alpine Italian rifugio experience, stay in the Albergo del Ponte Hotel at 2400m elevation right under the Gabiet - Passo dei Salati gondola.

Some of the best ski in accommodation close to the major Gressoney ski lifts is in the hamlet of Stafal. The spelling of Stafal is up for debate. It is variously referred to as Stafal, Staffal, Stafall or Tschaval! Go figure. All the premises in Stafal are convenient to the lifts & slopes. Check out the Hotel Chalet du Lys, Hotel Nordend Residence Felik Suites & Apartments.

Best Alagna Valsesia Accommodation

The far eastern valley of the Monterosa ski resort has the lovely traditional village of Alagna. The most accessible valley from Milan, the hotel, apartment and pension lodging options are all generally within a short walk of the Alagna valley run and the Alagna-Pianalunga gondola base. One hotel, The MH Olen is only a few steps from the gondola. The Pensione Genzianella is at the end of the valley trail leading in to town. A few steps away in the village are the main stay Hotel Monterosa, plus Alagna 2000 Apartments & Baita Reale Apartments.

For something different, stay on a farm at a great value local agristurismo like the Agriturismo Alagna.

Two other options a short distance from the lifts, but still well worth it include the Indren Hus Hotel & the luxurious Pietre Gemelle Resort-Apartments.
