Program
Tours are for eight days and start/finish on a Saturday at the airport in Tromsø. You will be greeted upon arrival and transferred to the boat. From the Sunday to the Friday the boat will travel to a variety of locations for skiing. On the morning of the follwoing Saturday, you will be transferred back to the airport at Tromso (or a city hotel if you are staying longer) for departure. The Skiing
The tour spends ski days ski-touring the mountains of the Lyngen Peninsula and nearby islands if condiations allow. Daily ski or splitboard tours will take you as high as 1,800m, with routes ranging from 4 to 9 km in length. Ski touring and splitboard tours are tailored to the current snow and weather conditions, as well as the group’s fitness & skills.
To make the most from this adventure, an intermediate skill level in alpine skiing & touring and a moderate fitness level is required. Off-piste skiing experience in varied snow conditions is recommended.
Lodging & Meals
’Base camp’ for the Sail & Ski Adventure is the luxurious yacht, S/Y JOINUS, anchored amidst the breathtaking fjords of the Lyngen Peninsula. This Bruce Roberts - New York 46 model offers a blend of comfort and functionality. The yacht boasts a well-equipped galley where delicious meals are prepared, cozy cabins for relaxation, and ample deck space to take in the mesmerizing views. For those keen on understanding the journey, there's navigational equipment on board, and for ensuring warmth after a day in the snow, the yacht is fitted with a Heating Webasto system. With high-speed connectivity available, those wishing to stay connected or work remotely amidst nature can do so seamlessly. After a day of skiing, unwind and share stories with fellow adventurers, making the S/Y JOINUS not just a mode of transport but a home on the waters.
All meals are including on the tour, starting from dinner on the first day and ending with breakfast on the last day. Breakfast & dinners will be prepared for you on the boat, whilst lunches will be enjoyed 'picnic' style in the mountains.
Getting There
The Lyngen Peninsula is conveniently accessible from Tromsø airport. Numerous airlines connect Tromso with major European cities. Upon your arrival at Tromso airport, the tour’s professional skipper will be there to assist with transfers, ensuring a seamless transition from the airport to the marina where the luxurious yacht, S/Y JOINUS, awaits.
Ski Gear & Ability
While guests are expected to bring their own ski-touring & splitboarding equipment, there’s is an option to organise equipment rentals in Tromso. Given the high demand during the ski season, advanced reservation is essential.
Avalanche safety gear for each guest (beacon, shovel, probe) is included in the tariff, but if you have your own please bring it.
An intermediate or better skill level in alpine skiing & touring and a moderate fitness level is required. Off-piste skiing experience in varied snow conditions is recommended.
Ski-touring & splitboarding gear is not included. A small amount of technical equipment is available for rental, but should not be relied upon. Inquire with the operator when booking.
Safety
Every skiing adventure in the Lyngen Alps is overseen by our professional skipper and an experienced ski guide. Upon boarding the yacht, there will be a comprehensive safety briefing detailing the use of equipment and the skiing activities. It's essential for participants to have an intermediate alpine ski skill level, ensuring everyone can confidently navigate off-piste terrains. The guides are adept at tailoring routes to match the group's abilities, ensuring both safety and enjoyment. With their extensive knowledge of the Lyngen Alps, they guarantee a thorough understanding of local sailing, weather, and snow conditions, ensuring every descent is both thrilling and secure.
