Transport - Getting There & Away
The tour starts at the Aigle train station in southwest Switzerland, where your hosts will meet & greet you, and then transport you to the first hotel in the centre of Villars sur Ollon village. From that point all transport is included in the tariff and will be conducted in a new 8-seater van. At the end of the tour on the 8th day, guests will have assistance to arrange train transfers to relevant airports from either the train stations of St Niklaus or Visp, whichever is easiest.
The closest international airport to the tour meeting point is Geneva (GVA). From the Geneva airport railway station, direct trains to Aigle (direction Brig) leave every hour through the day, taking 1⅓hr for the journey. The best alternative airport is Zurich (ZRH). Train transfers from Zurich take longer to Aigle, and are in the realms of up to 3½hr via Bern & Lausanne. Both journeys provide a wonderful introduction to Switzerland. Either airport can be easily reached from the tour departure point, with Visp about midway between the two. Both Geneva & Zurich are worth a day or two exploration either prior to or following the tour.
