Terrain, Snow & Timing
Gudauri & the wider region offers an array of backcountry terrain that caters to skiers and snowboarders of various skill levels. Here’s a breakdown of the terrain you can explore.
The mountains around Gudauri are renowned for its vast alpine bowls, providing open and expansive areas for backcountry enthusiasts. These bowls offer opportunities for both powder-filled descents and wide-open turns.
Thrill-seekers will appreciate the steep chutes and couloirs that terrain near Gudauri has to offer. These challenging descents are ideal for advanced skiers and snowboarders looking for an adrenaline rush.
If you’re looking for solitude and untouched snow, venture into the region's remote zones. These areas require careful planning and are best explored with a knowledgeable guide.
Gudauri experiences snowfall from December until May although most snowfall is concentrated in the spring months. March is best for deep powder beneath the ski lifts and early April is great for long ski tours on stable snow. Due to its high elevation and unique climate patters, while the spring season is winding down in the Alps, Gudauri is just reaching its peak. Due to the 1,300m elevation difference in the ski resort and even greater elevations in the backcountry, you’re likely to find all conditions from light, dry powder on top to spring corn on the bottom.

Getting to Tbilisi
We recommend getting to Georgia via Tbilisi airport. Travel to Tbilisi (TBS) is simple via most of Europe's main airports or the Middle East. Skiers & snowboarders from other continents are probably best to come via Dubai, London, Munich, Paris, or Istanbul. You can be met & picked up directly from the airport or from a Tbilisi hotel. At the end of the holiday, you will be driven back to the airport for departure or somewhere else in Tbilisi - whatever you wish. Travel time between Tbilisi & Gudauri is around 2½hr.
