Rising Sun Cat Skiing
Niseko cat skiing is a purr…fect way to score line after line of phenomenal powder for the day.
The land of the rising sun is renowned for its amazing powder skiing and snowboarding. Niseko in particular is world famous for the huge amounts of superb quality snow that it receives, however the Niseko ski resort is very popular and it tracks out reasonably quickly. Those craving bottomless untracked powder runs have to venture further afield into the backcountry.
You can undertake backcountry trips with
Rising Sun Guides and earn your turns, or the much less physically taxing way to score freshies is to head out cat skiing with Rising Sun Guides. With a snowcat, you have access to great ski terrain, deep powder, and you only have to share it with a handful of others.
Unlike
Weiss cat skiing (another Niseko cat skiing operation) that has mellow terrain and is ideal for strong intermediate riders, the Rising Sun Cat Skiing has terrain for experienced powder hounds who like their runs steeper.
Where is Rising Sun Cat Skiing Located?
The Rising Sun cat skiing operates from a piece of powder paradise in the Shiribeshi mountains of Hokkaido Japan. The snowcat staging area is located about 30 minutes drive from
Niseko Japan, and transport between your Niseko accommodation and the staging area is included in the package.
On those rare fine days (because bountiful powder doesn’t fall from blue skies!), the terrain affords panoramic views around the surrounding mountains including Mt Yotei and Mt Annupuri.
Niseko Cat Skiing Package
Cat skiing is available as either a group tour where you join others and pay per person (minimum 4 people to operate), or a chartered tour where you organise your own group.
The full day (8am to 4-5 pm) includes cat skiing, guiding with qualified and experienced English speaking guides, door-to-door transport, and use of an avalanche safety kit. Lunch is provided but the real feast you’ll want is all those abundant mouthfuls of powder!
Rising Sun Guides has two snowcats that hold 5-6 guests each, and you’ll have a tail guide.
A day of cat skiing needs to be pre-booked. You can check availability and make a
booking enquiry here for Rising Sun Cat Skiing.
Why Go Niseko Cat Skiing with Rising Sun Guides?
The combination of being able to go cat skiing in Niseko is ideal. Firstly powder resets in the Niseko region are frequent and often big. You can enjoy all the positives of Niseko (nightlife, restaurants, the resort) but also get away from the crowds and enjoy the serenity and the steep and deep of the backcountry.
Rising Sun Guides are very competent and organised operators. The owner established a highly respected Japan backcountry tour operation in 2005, and has now branched off to form a new company. Both he and his guides have a wealth of experience in the backcountry.
