Driving to Kawaba
If you’re on a multi-day trip and are not on a
guided tour, you’ll need to have access to a car so that you can drive between the Kawaba ski resort and your accommodation, and to access other nearby ski resorts.
The telephone number for GPS navigation to drive to Kawaba Ski Resort is 0278-52-3345. It’s a really easy drive because it is only 16km off the Numata Interchange on the Kanetsu Expressway. If you don’t want to drive the last part on the windy and potentially snowy road, there are free shuttle buses that depart from the Michi-no-eki Kawaba Denen Plaza in Kawaba town, but then you’d miss out on the opportunity to park in the impressive multi-storey car park of Kawaba City!
Kawaba City offers 6 storeys of free car parking and you can catch the lifts up to the 7th floor to buy lift tickets, and then the 8th floor conveniently opens out onto the slopes. There are also huge overflow car parks further down the road with shuttles provided up to the ski area.
Train & Bus to Kawaba
If you’re day tripping to Kawaba, you can get a train to Jomo Kogen or Numata station, from where there are limited shuttle buses to the resort. Or there are bus tours available from Tokyo.
