Minakami Hotels
In choosing where to stay in Minakami, you first need to decide whether your priority is to be near a particular Minakami ski resort, if you want to be near the Minakami train station for buses to get around, or whether a beautiful onsen, ryokan or kaiseki dinner is of high importance.
If you’re a powder hound that wants to chase big mountain skiing or delicious powder in the trees at
Tenjindaira, you probably want to stay at
Tenjin Lodge which is just down the road. You can choose from booking just your accommodation and breakfast, or a guided backcountry package that includes transport, lift passes, dinner and guiding, or a beginner package that includes transport, dinner, lift passes and lessons.

Other Minakami Accommodation Options
The
Takaragawa Onsen Osenkaku is an old ryokan at the very famous Takaragawa Onsen (one of the largest outdoor hot springs in Japan) and offers very traditional Japanese style tatami rooms.
Hoshi Onsen Chojukan is an old wooden ryokan that oozes rustic charm. One of the main attractions is the onsen baths, including a stunning historic indoor mixed-gender bath. The guest rooms are tatami rooms with futons that utilise shared bathrooms. It has a rather remote location deep in the mountains, so the commute to the ski areas will take longer than other Minakami accommodation options.
Also tucked up in the mountains but in the vicinity of the Houdaigi and Minakami Kogen ski resorts is
Ryuudo which has the “onsen theme park” that offers a variety of private baths. The ryokan has maisonette rooms with twin beds and futons on the tatami plus a private open air onsen. There are also Japanese tatami rooms that utilise shared bathrooms.
