Driving to Oze Tokura
Driving to Snow Park Oze Tokura is the easiest way to get there because it’s a long way from major train stations, unless of course you’re on a
guided multi-resort tour.
Oze Tokura is located just off Route 401, about 36km northeast of the Numata Interchange on the Kan-etsu Expressway from Tokyo. The telephone number for GPS navigation is 0278-58-7511. Parking is free and it’s an easy walk from the car park to the ticket office and lifts.
Bus from Tokyo to Katashina
The Katashina Snow Express is a daily bus from Tokyo Station (with courtesy pick ups from Kamata) to the Katashina ski resorts.
Train
You can get a train to the Jomo Kogen train station on the Joetsu Shinkansen line, or Numata Station on the Joetsu line, which is a bit fiddly in itself. From these two train stations there are occasional bus services to Oze Tokura, but the bus trip takes a long time.
Getting Around
If you plan to stay in the Katashina region for more than one day you’ll want to have a
rental car, unless you’re on a tour with a guide to drive you around. You’ll need wheels to get between your
Katashina accommodation and Oze Tokura and to other nearby ski resorts, and if you’re accommodation doesn’t include meals in your plan, you’ll also need a car to go out for dinner.
