Shibu Onsen Ryokan Accommodation
The Shibu Onsen accommodation is mostly on the main street and consists of traditional Japanese ryokan. These range from inexpensive pension-like lodgings to luxurious ryokan that provide the ultimate, luxurious Japanese cultural experience.
We stayed at the lovely
Sakaeya Shibu Ryokan which was incredibly deluxe, clean and modern, whilst also retaining its traditional Edo period features. Our tatami room was reasonable sized and included an ensuite bathroom, although we didn’t use the shower considering the beautiful on-site onsen with indoor and outdoor baths.
Koishiya is also located in the main street, and this ryokan has typical Japanese style accommodation as well as budget dormitory accommodation. Onsite is a café and restaurant.
Hatsunoyu offers somewhat simple Japanese style accommodation with shared bathrooms.
Jinpyokaku is located at the trailhead to the snow monkeys park, and offers the ultimate in luxurious ryokan accommodation. This upscale Shibu ryokan even has some rooms with their own open air onsen bath.
Also right near the
snow monkeys trail head is
Senjukaku, boasting outdoor onsen, a heated indoor pool, and beautiful Japanese gardens. Senjukaku offers lovely traditional Japanese-style rooms with ensuite bathroom.
