Making a Claim
If you have the misfortune of needing to make an insurance claim whilst travelling, you must act on it ASAP (preferably within 24 hours of an incident) to have the highest chance of receiving the full benefits of your policy.
Make sure you keep good documentation of all valuables and make sure you carry your policy details and insurance contact numbers in the event of an incident.
Here is a quick checklist:
- Keep receipts of goods separate from the goods themselves as proof of ownership and value.
- Keep any relevant ticketing and luggage receipts in the event that baggage goes missing.
- Report any loss of luggage or goods within 24 hours.
Report any suspected criminal activity such as stolen goods to the police within 24 hours.
- Check whether public medical facilities are available as an alternative to private facilities as some policies will not cover for private in this case.
