Logistics
Guests must travel to Tashkent International Airport and arrive before noon on the day the tour starts. You can look at
flight options here. Please check the COVID restrictions for any country you might have to transfer through, prior to booking your flight.
Please choose a flight that arrives in Tashkent in the morning, so the group can depart at noon to Chimgan on the first day of the tour. One transfer to and from the hotel is included. There will only be one lift to Chimgan. If you cannot arrive by noon you will have to pay for your own ride to Chimgan. The guides can help you book that through the hotel.
It is recommended to arrive in Tashkent the night before the tour and stay overnight in Tashkent to catch up on some sleep. If everyone in the group does that, the group can leave early for Chimgan and potentially ski in the afternoon. Here are some options for
Tashkent Hotels.
Other
Credit cards are widely accepted in Tashkent and at the Amirsoy ski area. Dinners can be charged to the rooms. There are ATMs in Amirsoy and you will need to have some cash for skiing in Chimgan and Beldersay.
Uzbekistan uses 220V and type C and F power plugs. If your US (110V) appliances already have a built-in a/c adapter, then all you will need is a travel plug adapter. They are inexpensive and can be easily purchased on Amazon or at an electrical store. If you don’t have an a/c adapter for any of your appliances, then you will need a step-down converter to convert the 220V current down to 110V for your appliance. Again, you can purchase a step-down converter online or at an electrical store.
For the latest Covid information regarding the entry requirements of Uzbekistan and restrictions for COVID,
please see here. It is your responsibility to keep up to date with
the latest COVID restrictions/requirements for Uzbekistan. All guests must comply with local COVID rules and regulations in Uzbekistan.
Guests can receive a rapid PCR test at the hotel in Tashkent, prior to departure for their home country, if this is required. If you receive a positive test and have to extend your stay, you should have travel insurance to cover any additional costs associated with a positive COVID test.
Some foreign visitors will need a tourist visa for Uzbekistan (US citizens will need a visa, UK citizens do not). This visa must be obtained prior to departure to Uzbekistan. You can
apply for an E-Visa. It costs around $20 USD and normally takes 2 business days to process. You will need to submit your personal details, select your intended travel dates, upload a photo with a white background showing your uncovered head and upper shoulders, upload a digital copy of your passport, and pay the fee.
Visas are good for one entry and last for 30 days. You can apply no more than 90 days out from intended date of departure. Passports must have 1 free visa page and be valid for 3 months beyond the date of arrival. More information about visas
can be found here.
Travel insurance is mandatory for ALL guests. The insurance must include trip cancellation insurance. You should have a high degree of medical coverage and should be covered for any additional expenses for any COVID related travel delays. You need to be also covered for travel to Uzbekistan, off-piste skiing, trip cancellation/delay, emergency evacuation and other items.
