Hokkaido Backcountry Tour
The Hokkaido Backcountry Tour is designed for experienced backcountry tourers that want to get out and see Japan’s wilds. You can expect to conquer some of Hokkaido’s highest and most iconic peaks. From the Daistesu National Park in Central Hokkaido (near Furano) to the crater of Mt Yotei near Niseko, this tour will go where the snow is and hike to find the best untouched lines.
You have the option the join the scheduled date group tour, or if you have your own group you
can request a private customised private backcountry trip which will be dependent on guide availability.
For the first 5 nights you will be based out of Furano, Hokkaido’s emerging backcountry capital. From there you’ll chase the best conditions whilst exploring the
Daisetsu Mountain Range in Central Hokkaido which includes
Kurodake,
Asahidake and
Tokachidake and is home to some of the most amazing Hokkaido backcountry skiing. This is Japan skiing and snowboarding at its absolute finest! There are endless options in this area as well as countless onsens to soak in after rewarding hikes and long deep runs.
From Furano you'll head to world famous Niseko where the group can chase the storms rolling in from the Sea of Japan or Pacific, far away from the all the hordes at Niseko Ski Resort. There might also be the option of a few car drops/pick-ups when the legs need a little rest.
The Hokkaido Backcountry Tour has been conceived from listening to past clients who wanted more days in Hokkaido’s backcountry, with nine nights and up to eight days on snow. Bring your maximum energy and fitness because the group will be out for multi day runs, all under your own leg power to get away from the crowds and explore further.
All this will be fully guided by the most experienced guides.
The guides will also take you to some great restaurants to sample delicious local food.
With a maximum of 8 people on the tour, it’ll be just you, the deep Japanese powder and endless opportunity.
