Las Trancas Accommodations
Las Trancas is a little alpine village at the base of the mountain, 7km from Nevados de Chillan. The town is spread out along Ruta 55 with lots of cute wooden buildings that add to the friendly feel of the place.
The advantages of staying in
Las Trancas are that costs for accommodation are significantly reduced and you might get a true Chilean experience. There is also more of a range of restaurants and the après is more pumping than at the resort. One disadvantage of staying is Las Trancas is that there is no transport available to and from the ski resort, so you need to have your own wheels.
Las Trancas accommodations include hostels, lodges and hotels. There are also lots of cabins (cabanas) that offer budget accommodation. In addition to properties below, you can also see other
Las Trancas accommodations.
Lower Village Accommodation
The majority of the on-mountain accommodations at Nevados de Chillan are located in the lower village. Most of the properties here are ski-in, ski-out or within a very short walk to the slopes and lifts. This area is well protected and has very mellow trails making it a great place for beginners to be based. There is a lift that connects this area to the upper village/lifts so it is still very convenient for accessing the entire mountain.
Nevados de Chillan Accommodation
There are three Nevados de Chillan hotels that are the mainstay of the on-mountain accommodation;
Hotel Alto Nevados,
Hotel Nevados de Chillan & the
Hotel Termas de Chillan. These all have the convenience of being ski-in ski-out via beginner trails, and having all important access to the termas (hot springs). The resort has various slope-side condominium (condomino) buildings that are self-contained. The apartments have a variety of configurations to sleep 3 to 13 people. For more budget oriented lodging options,
Las Trancas located 7 km down the road has many great options in lodges & self-cater cabanas.
NB: Chilean properties charge a compulsory 19% (IVA) government tax (which is not usually shown in the price). Foreign travelers can be exempt from this tax if they pay in USD (only) which can be cash or credit card depending on what the property accepts and by presenting their travel documents. However some properties only accept cash in the local currency where in that case you will be obligated by law to pay the tax. Please read the fine print for each property before booking.
Upper Village Lodging
If you are a good skier or boarder you are really only going to ride the terrain above the upper village so this would be the place to stay if you were considering staying on-mountain. There is only one hotel, the Hotel Alto Nevados in this location which is absolute ski-in/ski-out and adjacent to the thermal hot springs complex.
