There are lots of South Lake Tahoe shops, particularly towards the east end of town near the state border, but the shopping pales into insignificance in comparison to the many other exciting things to do in the area.

South Lake Tahoe Ski Shops

In addition to a few ski and snowboard shops at the base areas at the Heavenly Ski Resort, there are lots of South Lake Tahoe ski shops around the gondola area that cater to retail needs as well as those looking for ski and snowboard rentals. The South Lake Tahoe ski shops sell a range of hardwear (skis, snowboards, boots) as well as ski/snowboard clothing that ranges from grungy to Bogner-esque.

In addition to Heavenly Sports shops around the gondola, there are brand names stores such as Patagonia, Quiksilver and The North Face, selling ski and snowboard clothing and outdoor gear.

General South Lake Tahoe Shopping

South Lake Tahoe has a good range of other shops of all descriptions. The main touristy shops are near the gondola area, and include various souvenir stores selling tacky T-shirts, hoodies, and a wealth of other Tahoe logo wear and knick-knacks.

There are also a few factory outlets at The Y.
