Beaver Creek Resort Facilities and Services

Beaver Creek ski resort has incredibly well developed amenities and the service is generally excellent. Most of the facilities are situated in the main Beaver Creek village, whilst Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead villages have very limited amenities.

Everything at Beaver Creek is more expensive than other USA ski resorts. There’s no point complaining about the prices of Beaver Creek ski rentals, ski lessons, child care and food. If you have the finances for Beaver Creek then relish in all that BC has to offer. If not, go elsewhere!

Beaver Creek provides a few nice little extras. In the village you don’t have to waste energy by walking up and down stairs as there are nice escalators to transport you up and down, and there are lots of heated walkways. Another nice touch is the famous cookies. Late in the afternoon “bakers” with chef hats stand at the base area of Beaver Creek Village with trays of cookies. I was a little disappointed though because my cookie was so soggy and droopy that I held it for about 20 seconds before it folded in half and dropped on the ground! Lucky for the 5 second rule!

Beaver Creek Ski Rentals

The resort owned ski rental shops are Beaver Creek Sports. They have various locations for snowboard and ski rentals including the Beaver Creek Plaza, the Westin Riverfront in Avon, Arrowhead, the Ritz Carlton, and the Pines Lodge. They have a good range of standard, performance and demo skis and snowboards at prices that are ouch worthy, but at least you have the option to get your equipment delivered to your lodging. On top of that you pay a premium at the Ritz Carlton. Beaver Creek Sports also has a “gold outlet” right next to the slopes where you pay for the convenience of the location and little extras like complimentary overnight storage.

There is also a good range of independently owned Beaver Creek ski rental shops where the rates are significantly cheaper, and some ski shops offer a delivery service. Charter Sports has a store at Beaver Creek and Avon, whilst the Gorsuch ski shop is located within the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek complex in the plaza.

Facilities for Children

The Small World Child Care is situated conveniently in the Beaver Creek Village. Child care can be provided for ages 24 months to 6 years for either the morning or the full day, although the rates for the full day are not much more than just the morning, so you might as well enjoy a bit more adult time. Reservations are recommended.

Beaver Creek Ski School

The main Beaver Creek ski school bases are slopeside at the top of the escalators in Beaver Creek Village.

The Beaver Creek kids’ ski school has a fantastic set up and a great reputation, which is probably why they can get away with charging the most in the country for kids’ ski school. Kids’ lessons are for the half day (skiing only) or full day (skiing & snowboarding, 9:30am to 3:30pm) which includes lunch time supervision. Group ski or snowboard lessons are available for ages 3 up 14 and then teen lessons for ages 15-18.

Adult group lessons for skiing or snowboarding are in a half day or full day format.

Private ski or snowboard lessons are for 3 hours or for the full day, and like everything else at BC, the instructors are considered top notch and the lessons are pretty much the most expensive in the US.

Note that both kids and adults group lessons depart from the base at the Beaver Creek Village whilst private lessons can commence from the main village, the Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch or at Haymeadow Express.

Eating On Mountain

For many who visit Beaver Creek, lunch is a big priority of the day. Cruise the slopes of Beaver Creek then settle in for a fine lunch with wine and all the trimmings. Various on-mountain restaurants are private clubs or offer exclusive fine dining such as Zach’s Cabin, Allie’s Cabin, and Saddleridge. Reservations are required and these often need to be made months in advance.

The Beaver Creek ski resort also has lots of other options. There are various spots with outdoor grills and decks for fine days. The Ritz Carlton deck at Bachelor Gulch is the spot for a very gourmet burger and live music, or you can head inside the hotel for an upscale lunch.

There are also on-mountain lodges with cafeteria style food. The Spruce Saddle is located at the top of chair 6 (Centennial Express); a large lodge with typical fare as well as a beautiful salad bar. The kids’ ski school is relegated to the upstairs area whilst downstairs is a little more sedate.

It’s also very easy to grab lunch in the Beaver Creek Village. There’s a café and restaurant at the ski-in ski-out Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, or get a quick bite at one of the eateries for sushi or sandwiches.
