Telluride Snowmobile

Wagner Custome Skis
In Telluride you should take some time out to explore the magnificent backcountry with Telluride Snowmobiles. You can absorb the breathtaking scenery, learn about some of the history of the area, and have a hoot all at the same time!

There are three standard tours offered by Telluride Snowmobiling, catering from the absolute beginner through to the advanced rider who wants to tear up the pow. Visit the historic ghost town of Alta, enjoy a gourmet lunch, soak in natural hot springs, free ride in wide open meadows, or scream up steep slopes.

Telluride Snowmobiling has been in operation since 1989 so they have plenty of years of experience and have a vast amount of local knowledge.

Snowmobiling Tour Options

Alta Ghost Town Tour This is a great tour for beginners and intermediates who want to take in the magnificent scenery and learn a bit about the local area, rather than rip it up in the powder. Because of the gentle grades and well groomed trails, you can ride two-up. These tours are conducted several times a day and only take 2 hours so they won’t cut into your skiing time too much.

The mining town of Alta apparently played a very important part in world history because Alta was where alternating electricity was first used for its mining operations. Some of the old mining buildings are still intact giving you a chilling ghostly feel about what went on in a bygone era.

Make sure you take your camera because there are plenty of photo opportunities, and the guide stops periodically at points of interest to offer their knowledge about the historic and natural wonders of the area.

Back Country Tour
These full-day tours are for people who have had a bit of snowmobile riding experience. You can tear up the powder in open meadows and power up steep slopes, so passengers are not permitted on this tour. A boxed lunch, drinks and snacks are included.

Dunton Hot Springs
For those who like a tour that includes a bit of pampering and a gourmet lunch, the Dunton Hot Springs tour could be just the ticket. The ride is mostly off-trail across gentle meadows, and as it is not a fast paced backcountry tour, pillion passengers are allowed. Dunton offers the chance to soak in natural hot springs and indulge in a gourmet lunch. Lunch is not included in the tour cost but access to the natural hot springs and fresh towels are included. This tour is suitable for beginner and intermediate riders.

Overnight tours to Dutton Lodge are also available upon request.
